New report finds that desalination is the most expensive option available to Corpus Christi. Any one plant would cost well over $1 billion in financial, environmental, and social costs.

The Port of Corpus Christi has planned multimillion-dollar efforts for desalination facilities. But there may be cheaper options, a new study claims.

Join us tomorrow, Monday Feb 7 at 5:30PM at the Ortiz Center for the State of the Port.

At their first public event of the year, the Port will try to spread lies about their role as a supposed environmental leader. We need to show up and set the record straight when they open the mic for comments and questions. Let's make sure they know we won't accept they damage they are doing to our community, our health, or our planet.

Why is this a SHAM "Town Hall"?
The City dragged its feet for almost 6 months and ignored our demands for a town hall that prioritized public participation. Now they announce a "Town Hall" close to the holidays when people are busy. They only give one week notice and don't share all the details until the day before. On top of all that, they use covid as an excuse to avoid meeting us face-to-face. They not only made participating unecessarily complicated, but also refuse to provide a Spanish interpreter.

A REAL Town Hall would give the public at least a month's notice. It would have hybrid options to participate in person and online. It would be scheduled for a time that is not traditionally one of the busiest of the year. It would have options to participate in all the languages spoken by your community! We've been dealing with covid for almost two years now, this is not rocket science!

This is clearly an attempt to avoid public participation and accountability. Mayor Guajardo, Peter Zanoni, and Water Utilities Chief Mike Murphy should be ashamed. Join us in calling for a REAL town hall in the new year and an end to desalination in Corpus Christi.
