The SS Monte Carlo reappeared off Coronado Beach, lowest tide and best view of the ship in years.

Lots of amazing shells on the beach this Winter! Big surf and low tides have washed away a lot of sand leaving the old pier foundation and the shipwrecked gambling boat, SS Monte Carlo, exposed. Summer visitors rarely get to see what lies beneath the sand they lay on. Never mind the Super Bowl, get to the beach! Upper 70's and sunny.

More storms moved through yesterday making for dramatic skies and big surf. Not many came out to brave the gale force winds and chilly temps though.

High winds last week caused some boats to break free from their moorings and end up on the Coronado beach. This one found itself impaled on the rock jetty in front of the hotel. After sitting a few days there, crews came out to scrap and remove it. With the expected El Nino event this season, there will likely be more of this. Free moorings are prone to abandoned and neglected boats.

Autumn is here at the beach. Come see the big waves rolling in this week as well as some wildlife usually not around for the Summer crowds. The heat and humidity have finally left us and the weather is gorgeous.

Another one of Coronado's beautiful beaches on the Silver Strand. If you enjoy nature without the seasonal crowds near the hotel, then this beach is a must!
