A Message from Supervisor Josh Wojehowski
September 11, 2026

Today marks 25 years since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001—a day that forever changed our nation and the lives of countless American families.

We remember the nearly 3,000 innocent people who were taken from us, including the local heroes from Cornwall and neighboring communities whose loss is still deeply felt. We honor the firefighters, police officers, emergency responders, members of our military and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary courage in our nation’s darkest hours.

For those who lived through September 11th, the memories remain vivid and deeply personal. For a growing number of young people, however, 9/11 is an event they know only through history books and the stories shared by others. It is our responsibility to teach the next generation what happened that day—not only the horror and tremendous loss, but also the bravery, unity and compassion that followed.

Each of us will observe this anniversary in our own way. Some will attend a ceremony, visit a memorial or lower a flag. Others will share a story with their children, say a prayer or quietly reflect on the lives that were lost. There is no single way to grieve or remember. What matters is that we do remember.

Our community’s September 11 Memorial Ceremony will be held tonight at 6:00 p.m. at the traffic circle. All are welcome to join us as we remember those we lost and honor the heroes who answered the call.

“Never Forget” must be more than words we repeat once a year. It is a promise to honor those we lost, support those who still carry the pain of that day and ensure their stories are passed on.

May we always remember our local heroes. May we continue to stand with their families. And may we never forget September 11, 2001.

🌳 Think Before You Clear! 🌿

Trees and vegetation play an important role in protecting our waterways. Clearing land near streams and drainage areas can contribute to erosion, pollution, flooding, and habitat loss.

Small actions today can help protect the Hudson and our community for generations to come. 💧🌱
