π NATIONAL POLICE WEEK 2026 | May 11β17 π
This week, the Town of Cornwall Police Department proudly joins law enforcement agencies across the nation in observing National Police Week 2026.
Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. President John F. Kennedy designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day β and the week in which it falls as National Police Week. This year marks the 38th Annual Candlelight Vigil, held Wednesday, May 13th on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., where the names of fallen officers are read aloud in their honor.
We pause to remember the fallen, and to recognize the men and women who continue to answer the call each and every day. π

21 YEARS OF STATE ACCREDITATION
The Town of Cornwall Police Department has proudly maintained accreditation through the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) since 2005 β over two decades of commitment to professional standards, best practices, and accountability. This achievement reflects the dedication of every officer and staff member who has served our department and our community.
π CORNWALL PD'S NEW DETECTIVE DIVISION
We are excited to share another proud milestone β the creation of our newly established detective position! Since January 2026, our detective has already closed out 13 cases, bringing answers and resolution to members of our community. This investment in investigative capacity is a direct reflection of our commitment to thorough, professional, and community-focused policing.
To every officer who wears the badge β past, present, and future β thank you for your service and sacrifice.
And to our Cornwall community β thank you for your continued trust and support. We are honored to serve you.
