Mayor's Message

September 11, 2026

Dear Neighbors & Friends,

It has been a quarter century since the deadliest attack on American soil. For nearly 3,000 families directly impacted by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the grief experienced twenty-five years ago can still feel like yesterday. For others, it may feel like a distant moment in history whose relevance seems to fade with time. We must resist allowing the lives lost, the heroic acts committed, the compassion, and the determination of our nation to respond, to be lost.

As we mark this anniversary, I encourage everyone to commemorate the day in whatever manner is meaningful to you, whether that be to attend a ceremony, educating a younger generation about the significance of September 11th, or simply take a moment to reflect and say a prayer.

Let us continue to inspire one another to keep the shared promise to "Never forget. " For so many, September 11th is not simply an anniversary; it is an agonizing and deeply personal loss.

It is the least we can do.

🚧Village of Cornwall on Hudson Water Department Announcement🚧

Shore Road Water Main Project

The Water Department will be completing some infrastructure upgrades to the Shore Road water main in the Village of Cornwall with the help from the Town of Cornwall Highway Department starting on Monday, September 14th.

Water service to the following area will be off on Monday, September 14th. All residents on Shore Road from Wood Avenue to TOC Sewer Plant, including 57 River Avenue, and 45 Wood Avenue. Once the water service is restored, a BOIL WATER ADVISORY will be in effect for 48-72 Hours. The Water Department will hand deliver notices to ONLY the affected properties.

Shore Road will be CLOSED to ALL TRAFFIC from Shore Road and River Avenue to Shore Road and Sloophill Road during the construction project. Please plan accordingly due to the road closure. This project will take approximately TWO (2) WEEKS.

The Department of Public Works will be closed on Monday, September 7th for Labor Day.

Trash & Yard Waste Collection:

On Tuesday, September 8th, crews will collect both the regular Tuesday route and the missed Monday pickup, along with yard waste.

September 2, 2026

Wishing all of our Cornwall-on-Hudson students a fantastic first day of school and a great year ahead. Whether you’re walking to school, hopping on the bus, or being dropped off by a parent - I hope today starts a wonderful year filled with learning, new friendships, and plenty of good memories.

A big thank you to our teachers, school staff, bus drivers, and parents for everything you do for our kids. And, of course, a reminder to everyone driving through the Village: please slow down and watch for our kids!
