You can enjoy the grounds, outdoor sculptures, and hiking trails during daylight hours all year-round. Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park preserves the former home, studio, and grounds of the American sculptor, Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The park includes an extensive collection of art, carefully preserved historic spaces, captivating gardens, special exhibits, and beautiful landscapes with natur

e trails. Rangers and volunteers invite visitors into the park's beauty while exploring the lives of the Cornish Art Colony, the conflicts of the Gilded Age, and the power of sculpture. A sculptor-in-residence continues the tradition of creativity and offers art workshops throughout the summer. Find your own inspiration at Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park in-person or here digitally! Augustus Saint-Gaudens (1848-1907) was an artist who helped shape a distinctly American school of sculpture and, in turn, influence how Americans view their country, its past, and the United States’ place in the world. Born in Ireland, Saint-Gaudens emigrated to the United States with his family as an infant. He first learned to create delicate portraits as a teenage jewelry apprentice in New York City and moved to Europe to study sculpture at age 18. Soon, he brought lifelike emotion and dramatic detail to American subjects. In 1885, he began summering in Cornish, NH with his family and moved there year-round in 1900 until his death in 1907. Notable works include the Shaw/54th Regiment Memorial in Boston, the Standing Lincoln in Chicago, and the Double Eagle gold coin. When can I visit? Park buildings are open from Memorial Day weekend to October 31. A fee is collected to enter the park during this period. Park grounds, trails, and outdoor sculptures remain open during daylight hours throughout the year. Please use caution as walkways, trails, and grounds are not maintained for public use between November 1 and Memorial Day weekend and may be icy, snow-covered, or uneven. Who cares for the park? Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park is a part of the National Park Service. Rangers, interns, and volunteers preserve and share this special place. Reach out to the park directly if you are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities. Partner organizations also help make the site a National Park for the Arts including the Saint-Gaudens Memorial and Opera North. Where is Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park? The park is nestled in the Upper Valley on the western edge of New Hampshire. It is about 2 miles from Windsor, Vermont and a short drive from Claremont and Lebanon, NH. The physical address of the park is 139 Saint-Gaudens Road, Cornish, NH. What should I know about this Facebook community? Please help us keep this page safe and family friendly.
