Mere hours after going back in service, Rescue 4, Truck 4, and Engine 6 took in this motor vehicle accident involving a Mecklenburg County Sheriffs Office vehicle on S. Main Street this afternoon. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.

🚨 RESCUE 4 IS BACK IN SERVICE! 🚨

After more than a year-long refurbishment project, Rescue 4, affectionately known as “The Mutt”, has officially returned to service!

Originally built in 2006 by Pierce Manufacturing, Rescue 4 holds a unique place in our department—it is currently the only apparatus in our fleet that isn’t a Seagrave. After nearly two decades of service, this truck has been given a major refresh and is ready for its next chapter.

The refurbishment included new equipment, fresh paint, upgraded emergency lighting, upgrades to all engine components, and numerous other improvements designed to keep Rescue 4 serving our community for years to come.

A lot may have changed since Rescue 4 last rolled out the doors, but one thing hasn’t:

The quality of service this company of firefighters offers to the citizens and visitors of Cornelius.

We’re proud to have this truck back where it belongs — in service and ready to answer the call.

Huge shoutout to Chief McCormick, Captain Slagle, Captain Ranson, and Captain Ross for the hundreds of hours put into the redesign of this truck, the compartment reconfigurations, and equipment installation.

Yesterday morning at 0811, Cornelius and Town of Davidson, NC Fire Department were dispatched to a fire in the 20000 Block of Catawba Avenue. Engine 3 arrived to find the Halal Foodtruck on fire and quickly stretched a line to extinguish the fire. Crews operated on scene for approximately an hour conducting overhaul. Thanks to Davidson for the assistance!

Today, Cornelius and Mount Mourne Fire Dept responded to assist Town of Davidson, NC Fire Department on a small commercial fire on the roof at The Community School of Davidson. Hook & Ladder 44 was assigned roof operations, while Engine 3 secured its own water supply and stretched a handline to the roof to extinguish any hotspots. The caller reported seeing an explosion on the roof and called 911. Luckily, contractors working on the roof saw it and were able to control most of the fire prior to our arrival.

With the heat index pushing nearly 110°, our crews worked in challenging conditions while staying focused on the task at hand. Incidents like these are a reminder that training, teamwork, and preparation make all the difference when seconds count.
