Lake Cities Fire Department would like to recognize those members of the department which also served in the US Armed Forces. These personnel represent the deep calling to serve, whether is it here in our communities or for the entire United States.

When is Armed Forces Day?
Armed Forces Day has been observed on the third Saturday of May for more than seven decades. In 2026, Armed Forces Day falls on Saturday, May 16.

Armed Forces Day marks a time to celebrate the efforts of the uniformed personnel within the U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard. Whether during periods of regional conflict or relative peace, the approximately 1.34 million active-duty service members across the American military help keep their fellow countrymen and women at home out of harm’s way.

How is Armed Forces Day different from Veterans Day and Memorial Day?

Armed Forces Day celebrates both active and former members of the U.S. military. Meanwhile, Veterans Day commemorates former service members every November 11, and Memorial Day, observed on the last Monday of May, specifically honors people who died while serving.

Huge shoutout to Wayback Burgers in Hickory Creek (opening soon). They were kind enough to use Lake Cities Fire Department as a training opportunity for their staff and brought us lunch.

TXDOT TRAFFIC UPDATE 🚧

Work at the Swisher turnaround/service road intersection is now complete. As part of the updated traffic pattern, the southbound U-turn now includes a dedicated turn lane for drivers heading back north under I-35, and the left lane is no longer designated as U-turn only. In addition, the northbound U-turn for drivers heading back south under I-35 has been changed from a yield to a stop sign. These stop signs are temporary for safety reasons until TxDot installs proper signage.

Please be aware of these new traffic changes and use extra caution while traveling through the area as drivers adjust to the updated pattern.

International Firefighters' Day 2026.

“The role of a firefighter in today’s society – be it urban, rural, natural environment, volunteer, career, industrial, defence force, aviation, motor sport, or other is one of dedication, commitment and sacrifice – no matter what country we reside and work in. In the fire service we fight together against one common enemy – fire – no matter what country we come from, what uniform we wear or what language we speak.”
