Press Release

For Immediate Release

Officials for the Town of Corinth are pleased to announce that they have been awarded a Safety Grant by the Maine Municipal Association Workers Compensation Fund in the amount of $3,000.00.

The Ed MacDonald Safety Grants and Scholarship provide financial assistance to members of the MMA Workers Compensation Fund to purchase safety equipment or services to assist in reducing the frequency and severity of workplace injuries. The grant programs are designed to prevent injuries and improve workplace safety for our Maine employees. The reduction in employee injuries also benefits the taxpayers by lessening lost hours at work, cost of claims and potential overtime expenses for employees who might have to fill in for injured co-workers.

The Maine Municipal Association has been awarding Safety Grants to members of the Workers’ Compensation fund since 1999. The Ed MacDonald Safety Grants and Scholarships are an example of a successful partnership that has been preventing workplace injuries by bestowing more than $7.1 million in the funding of 4,692 Safety Grants and 581 Scholarship. Together we are building safe communities.

Today duty crews from Corinth and Levant Fire & Rescue spent time with our high school students helping recruit students to join local departments that the students are from and pursue careers in public safety! All departments could use more help!!
Thank you to Central High School and Retired Chief Larry Willis for helping put this on!

This Memorial Day weekend we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

To our fallen heroes: thank you. To the families who carry their memory forward: we stand with you. To all veterans and active-duty service members: we appreciate your service and sacrifice.

Please enjoy the holiday safely — watch children around grills and water, never leave fires or charcoal unattended, and if you plan to drink, designate a sober driver.

Join us as we remember and reflect. — Corinth Fire Department

🚑 The theme of EMS Week 2026 is “Improving Outcomes Together” and it kicks off by recognizing excellence in action.

Pictured here is FF/Medic Katie Weymouth. Together with her crew, they demonstrated exactly what your Bangor Professional Firefighters train for — responding under pressure when seconds matter most. Through teamwork, skill, and calm decision-making, the crew successfully achieved ROSC (Return of Spontaneous Circulation) in the field, giving a patient a fighting chance before arriving at the hospital.

For our community, moments like this are a reminder that EMS is more than transportation — it’s advanced medical care delivered at your doorstep, often on someone’s worst day.

Please join us in congratulating FF/Medic Katie Weymouth and her crew for their outstanding work and helping us kick off EMS Week 2026 by highlighting what service, training, and dedication truly look like. 👏🚑❤️
