We have been notified that several citizens have received phone calls from an individual claiming to be an officer with the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office. The individual claims the citizen has a warrant and must pay or be arrested. This is a scam. No one from the Sheriff’s Office will ever call and attempt to collect money.
Be aware that the phone number may appear as the actual Sheriff’s Office number. Also they may use an actual Deputy’s name. Please hang up immediately if you receive a similar call.

Congratulations to Deputy Antrell Tucker on his graduation from the North MS Law Enforcement Training Academy. Deputy Tucker has served many years in the Alcorn County Regional Correctional Facility and will now serve as a patrol Deputy.

On Wednesday March 18th 2026 The Alcorn County Sheriff's Office took a report from the family of Ashley Johnson 38 of Alcorn County. It was reported that her family had not spoken to her since Sunday March 15th 2026. Investigators with the Sheriff's Office immediately began an investigation.

On Thursday March 19th 2026 Law Enforcement Officers physically located and spoke with Ashley and she is safe.

This morning, the Alcorn School District received a tip regarding a potential safety concern involving a vehicle coming onto campus at Alcorn Central High School. School and district personnel were immediately on scene and approached the suspected vehicle as soon as it entered school grounds. The vehicle was searched, and a handgun was found inside. The firearm was immediately seized, and the student has now been taken into custody by the Alcorn County Sheriff's Department. Based on the information available at this time, this is believed to be an isolated incident. As this is now a law enforcement matter, no further details can be shared at this time.

On Tuesday February 17, 2026 at approximately 6:30 a.m. Alcorn County Jail staff was conducting routine cell checks when they discovered an Inmate unresponsive. The Inmate was being housed in single individual cell. Staff immediately began CPR and called for medical assistance. Magnolia EMS arrived and pronounced the Inmate deceased. Alcorn County Deputies and Investigators were contacted and secured the area. The MS Bureau of Investigation has been called in to conduct an independent investigation. The Alcorn County Coroner will transport the individual to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
