Water District Updates 6/15/2026

Water District 4:
The Town has received approval from USDA Rural Development to proceed to the Bid Phase for Water District 4. Bid Advertisements will be in the Batavia Daily News and online starting Tuesday June 16th. The Bid Opening is planned for 10:00 am, Thursday July 16th at Town Hall. This meeting is open to the public. If Bids come in at or under the funding the Town has secured, The Town Board could award contracts at the July 23rd Town Board Meeting.

Water District 5:
The Town is in again the process of applying for a WIIA Grant from NYS Environmental Facilities Corporation (EFC) for Water District 5. This Grant will offset the current shortfall in funding. As part of the grant application the EFC has asked the Town to provide pre-filtration well water samples from at least 15 locations throughout Water District 5. These samples can strengthen the Towns Grant Application. A letter will be going out shortly to all residents in Water District 5 (Pratt Road, Kilian Road and Slusser Road South of the Thruway). The Genesee County Health Department will be conducting the sampling. If you’re interested in providing a sample, please provide your contact information to the Town Clerk ([email protected]) or Town Supervisor ([email protected]) and we will pass it along to the Health Department who will be in contact with you.

A meeting of the Town of Pembroke Board of Assessment Review is scheduled for Monday, June 15th, 2026. The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Pembroke Town Hall, 1145 Main Road, Corfu, New York 14036.

Public Service Announcement

This Spring the Town of Pembroke has received more than 10 inches of rainfall, 5 Inches above average. I understand the desire for spring sports to have games. Unfortunately, sometimes field conditions dictate the cancellation of games. Continued use of fields that are not allowed to dry properly only causes further damage that takes longer to repair and make fields playable when weather permits. I spent my time with PYA, and I was the person who stayed after, when everyone else left, to rake the low spots back in. Please take the time to rake around home plate and the pitchers’ areas at the very least after games, so these areas don’t hold as much water. In the event of nighttime rain, raking these areas might make the difference as to if the fields are playable the next day or not. The Town Board has been gracious to allow continued investment in the Town Park, and we all need to protect the facilities that many towns in the area are not as blessed to have.
