Students and Parents…

Registration for Dual Credit courses at the ATC will be on Thursday, Sept. 10th during the students’ class period at the ATC.

Dual Credit courses are offered through Somerset Community College but are taught here at the ATC by our teachers. There is a cost associated with these courses, BUT each student is eligible for two KHEAA Work Ready scholarships each year, as long as the family of the student completes the online request.

All of this will be explained to the students on the day of registration. KHEAA signups will be held at a later date.

If a student is interested in or wanting to take a Dual Credit course, they need to speak with their teacher ASAP.

We wrapped up a fantastic summer camp with 13 outstanding students who spent the week exploring hands-on activities, building new skills, and learning about exciting career opportunities.

Throughout the camp, students:

🔹 Designed and built Popsicle Stick Bridges to test their engineering and problem-solving skills

🔹 Learned important bleeding control techniques and basic emergency response skills

🔹 Explored fingerprinting methods used by law enforcement to identify individuals and solve crimes

🔹 Launched soda bottle rockets, discovering the science behind propulsion and flight

🔹 Put their teamwork and determination to the test through a challenging obstacle course

Students also had the opportunity to hear from a special guest speaker, a current Kentucky State Trooper, who shared valuable insights about a career in law enforcement and answered questions about the profession.

In addition, campers spent time with our instructors learning about the opportunities available through our program and the many career pathways that begin right here at the Corbin Area Technology Center.

A huge thank you to our students, guest speaker, instructors, and everyone who helped make this camp such a success. We are proud of the enthusiasm, curiosity, and effort each student brought every day, and we look forward to seeing what they accomplish in the future!
