Huge thanks to Trail Trekkers for rolling up last week and helping mulch our outdoor space! This crew bikes around town tackling service projects all summer long, and we were lucky to be one of their stops. Grateful for young people who show up and put in the work for their community!

Major congrats to Volunteer Coordinator Kate Wolniak-Bujakowska for completing Greater Iowa City, Inc.’s Community Leadership Program! While she has already been a trusted community leader, we know this program has provided valuable guidance and networking to strengthen Kate’s impact in her community--through her role at the Food Pantry and beyond. Way to go, Kate!

Chicken strips, white cheddar mac & cheese, dinner rolls, and fresh fruit (Hy-Vee Catering)

Wednesday, June 17 | Barrett's
Alfredo pasta (chicken & vegetarian options), side salad, and fresh fruit

Thursday, June 18 | HuHot
Stir fry (chicken & veggie), fried rice, noodles — peanut & coconut free

Friday, June 19 | HyVee
Build-your-own sandwich bar with meat, cheese & toppings, plus fresh fruit, a cookie, and juice

✅ Gluten-free and plant-based options available daily, provided by the Food Pantry when possible

All kiddos and parents/guardians welcome!Tuesday - Friday from 11:30-1pm at the Coralville Community Food Pantry community room (804 13th Ave).

As Luke steps away from the Iowa Hunger Coalition to take on his next adventure in Alaska, we are overjoyed to announce that John Boller, Executive Director of the Coralville Community Food Pantry, will be the next Board Chair of the Iowa Hunger Coalition!

John is an incredible hunger fighter who has not only been a valuable member of the board for over 7 years but has also been instrumental in helping to organize grassroots anti-hunger advocates in his community through the Johnson County Food Access Network.

Week one of Coralville Summer Lunch is in the books! Exactly 350 meals were served to kiddos, with the delicious spread donated by partners Tribute Eatery & Bar, tinroost, Olive Garden, Chick-fil-A, Chef Viana, and United Iowa Financial.

And, of course, we had a wonderful array of activities too!

Thanks to all who made this first week a su ch a success! 11 more weeks to go!

Major shoutout to our pal Virginia Hayes, Engineering Stormwater Technician with the City of Coralville, Iowa Government—a few weeks ago, she constructed and placed two rain barrels on-site to catch and store rainwater running off of our roof. We are able to reuse this water to provide sustenance for our gardens!

Thank you, Virginia! We are ✨overflowing✨ with gratitude! 😉

Fresh milk day at the pantry! Thanks to a collective purchase through the Johnson County Food Access Network, we received a delivery of locally sourced milk today from — and it's headed straight to the families we serve.

This is part of an ongoing protein purchasing project made possible by the Johnson County Emergency Hunger Relief grant, which has helped fund multiple rounds of collective protein purchases to supply several local pantries across the area.

A huge shoutout to Leslie Alvarez at the North Liberty Community Pantry for coordinating all the logistics to make this happen. This is what collaboration looks like!
