⛳ Calling all golfers!

Join us for our 2025 Golf Tournament Fundraiser at Hills of Cove Golf Course on Saturday, June 28, 2025! All proceeds benefit the Copperas Cove Law Enforcement Explorer Program, which gives young adults a hands-on look at law enforcement careers through training, mentorship, and real-world experience.

The Explorer Program gives young adults a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement while building leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. Participants will learn about police operations, participate in hands-on training, and have opportunities to serve the community alongside CCPD officers.

Applications will be accepted through the end of May. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this exciting program!

Explorer ➡️ Dispatcher ➡️ Future CCPD Police Officer!

Tyler Murphy joined our Explorer Program in 2019 as a high school junior, gaining hands-on experience alongside the men and women protecting our community. After aging out of the program, Tyler applied and was hired as a 9-1-1 dispatcher, where his work ethic and Explorer training helped him excel, but it’s his heart for serving others that truly sets him apart. 💙🚔👏🏼

With his goal set on becoming a police officer, Tyler applied, excelled in the hiring process, and is now attending the Central Texas College Police Academy. Upon graduating and completing field training, he’ll be serving our community in a patrol uniform (no pressure, Murphy 😉). STAY tuned for the fourth photo in this series.

Tyler’s journey shows how the Explorer Program prepares young individuals for law enforcement. We’ll be accepting applications starting in April for individuals between the ages 14-20 who have an interest in law enforcement.

Alright, we’ll leave him to his studying now 🤫, but don’t worry, you’ll be hearing more about him & all our amazing cadets once they’ve finished the academy!

Congratulations to Officer Christopher Lanza! This morning, Chief Eddie Wilson swore him in, and his mother proudly pinned his badge.

Officer Lanza’s journey to law enforcement started early. He was a member of our Law Enforcement Explorer Program at just 15 years old. Determined to make his dream a reality, he put himself through the police academy while also working a full-time job. He later applied with CCPD, and today, he begins field training. Welcome home, Ofc. Lanza! 🚔💙🙌🏼

Congratulations to Christopher Mielke, Zavier Fitzpatrick, Stratton Beveridge, and Hunter Lewis on successfully completing our Law Enforcement Explorer Program Academy!

The LEEP Academy is a condensed version of a police academy, offering youth the chance to learn about law enforcement, gain hands-on experience, and work alongside our officers. In just a short time, they've learned a great deal, and we look forward to continuing to work with them.

You'll see these new faces tagging along with officers and at events throughout the year. We're proud to have them on board! 🙌🏼
