We had a such a blast celebrating Pride across Coos and Curry counties with Southern Oregon Coast Pride and all of the other amazing community partners and community members we got to meet! 🌈

Our team of advocates and volunteers were so grateful to have a booth at both Pride events, and loved being able to support and connect with 2SLGBTQIA+ survivors, their families, loved ones, and allies. ❤️

Research from organizations like The Trevor Project, highlight that 2SLGBTQIA+ folks in rural areas face higher isolation and have fewer local resources, which makes creating these safe, connected spaces more important than ever. 🫶🏻

Being out in the community, sharing resources, and celebrating together reminds us all why this work matters so much. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth with your bright energy and community spirit. We are so proud to stand with you all year long! 🎉

As our nation celebrates our 250th Independence Day this July, we are reflecting on what true freedom really means. 🇺🇸

For survivors of domestic violence, independence isn't just a holiday on the calendar. True freedom means having complete autonomy over your own life, finances, and choices. Domestic abuse is ultimately about power and control, but everyone has a fundamental right to live free from fear, manipulation, and restriction. 👩🏻‍⚖️⚖️

If a partner is depriving you of your personal or financial freedom, please know that you do not have to navigate this alone. The SAFE Project is here to support you, protect your autonomy, and help you reclaim your independence.

Contact a SAFE Project advocate today to create a confidential safety plan tailored to your life. 📋

It's independence day. ❤️🤍💙

Sharing a crucial moment from last night's Coos County Town Hall with Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield!

Our Primary Shelter Advocate, Jessica D., stepped up to represent our mission and advocate for survivors in Coos & Curry County.

In her powerful public comment, Jessica thanked AG Rayfield for his leadership in protecting vital federal funds like VOCA, ensuring that Oregon shelters remain open and accessible.

She also bravely addressed the devastating recent budget cuts, specifically how Coos and Curry counties are currently receiving zero VAWA funds.

Jessica called for an equitable funding distribution that does not overlook the victims and survivors living on the rural Southern Oregon Coast. 💜🌊
