Incredible news! We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Coopersville Area Public Schools has officially been recognized as one of the 2026 Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation!

Now in its 27th year, this national program honors school districts across the country for their outstanding commitment to music education and their efforts to ensure all students have access to music as part of a well-rounded education.

This recognition reflects the strength of our entire K–12 music program and a shared commitment to providing meaningful music learning opportunities for every student.

This year, only 21 districts in Michigan received this distinction, placing Coopersville among the top music education communities in the state.

Recipients are selected through a rigorous application and review process that evaluates funding, instructional time, participation, facilities, and community support, with all data independently verified to ensure integrity and credibility.

This recognition reflects a comprehensive, district-wide commitment to music education from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Coopersville’s music programs emphasize student participation, consistent instructional time, program funding, and strong community support. This support is exemplified by groups such as the Coopersville Community Band and our dedicated Band Boosters, whose tireless advocacy and fundraising are vital to the success of our student musicians and are key criteria in the BCME selection process.

We are grateful for the continued support of music education in Coopersville and remain committed to growing opportunities for all students.

This past Thursday, our 6th grade band students performed solos for a guest teacher and their families. They did a fantastic job and received valuable feedback.

Thank you to our high school leadership students for their help, and to our Band Boosters for sponsoring the event and celebrating our students with cupcakes!

We are so proud of our middle school students who were selected to perform in the MSBOA District 7 Honors Band! 🎶

With over 130 students representing schools across West Michigan, these musicians spent the day working hard in sectionals and full rehearsals, all leading up to an outstanding concert at 6:00 PM.

A special congratulations as well to Mrs. Borst, who had the honor of serving as one of the guest conductors for this incredible event!

What a fantastic day of music and growth—way to represent! 👏

Today our band students had an incredible opportunity! World-renowned clarinetist Julian Bliss visited Coopersville High School to perform for our students and share what life is like as a professional musician.

Students in 6th–12th grade band attended the performance, where they heard him play, learned about his musical journey, and had the chance to ask questions about performing, practicing, and building a career in music.

Experiences like this inspire our students and show them what is possible through dedication, passion, and hard work.

A special thank you to Meyer Music and Dansr/ Vandoren USA for sponsoring this event and helping make this amazing experience possible for our students!

We were proud to once again host this festival in our facilities, including the newly remodeled band room and the beautiful new acoustic band shell in the auditorium. Our band boosters, parents, emeritus band director, and student workers all worked together to make the event a success. It was a great day for our district, and we are grateful for the continued support of the Coopersville community in giving our students the best possible tools for music education.

Each band was evaluated by four adjudicators using a rubric that assessed tone, intonation, rhythm, technique, and interpretation. Three adjudicators evaluated the performance in the auditorium, and one evaluated the band in the sight reading room. Each category receives a divisional rating: 5 (Poor), 4 (Fair), 3 (Good), 2 (Excellent), and 1 (Superior). The final rating for each band is based on the average of all four adjudicators.

We are proud to share that all four Coopersville bands earned Division 1 ratings. The work ethic and dedication our students show in the pursuit of excellence is remarkable. We truly have outstanding students, supportive families, and an incredible community here in Coopersville.
