Yesterday, your Cooleemee Firefighters went to school! We started the morning off with “Firefighter Friday” at Cooleemee Elementary School where we opened up car doors for the kids and greeted them for their school day with stickers! This is always a fun time for us and the kids. We also spent most of the morning and afternoon reading fire safety related children’s books to different classes in different grade levels and gave them mini fire safety lessons. We fully believe in investing in the kids as they are the future and that Fire Prevention and Fire Safety Education are extremely valuable and important to instill in children from a young age.

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave everything for this country. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend or a day off. It is a solemn reminder of the sacrifice made by those who never made it home.

Because of their courage, we live in freedom. Because of their sacrifice, we are able to enjoy the lives we often take for granted. We honor every Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine, Coast Guardsman, and all who served with selfless dedication to this nation.

To the fallen heroes and the families who carry their memory every day, we will never forget your sacrifice.

Land of the Free - Because of the Brave.

Remember and Honor. 🇺🇸

Today, your Cooleemee Firefighters had the pleasure of serving the kids of Cooleemee Elementary School lunch today while quizzing them on their fire safety knowledge. We served 347 students between 1045 and 1205! We look forward to interacting with the kids every time and can’t wait to do it again!

Today your Cooleemee Firefighters got the chance to host the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride for their lunch stop. Captain Hall & Lieutenant Freidt were able to discuss what the meaning is behind the ride, & get to know some of the riders while they were in our station.

We want to extend a huge thank you to them for choosing our department to be one of their stops on their ride to South Carolina!

The Statewide burning ban remains in effect. Use caution when cooking outside & remember to report fires immediately & stay safe!

Hazardous Weather Update 4.14.26

🔥 The combination of dry fuels, very warm temperatures, gusty winds, and reduced humidity will lead to an increased risk of wildfires again today.

🍂 Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could easily ignite and spread fire quickly.

❌ A statewide burn ban issued by the N.C. Forest Service remains in place.

As this winter storm moves through our area, please stay home unless you absolutely have to go out. Roads will continue to deteriorate throughout the evening as temperature begins to drop and wind gusts pick up.

As always, we stand ready to serve if needed.
