🐻📚 Books aren’t for bears… or are they?

Our latest book review is in, and this one reminds young readers of something we love here at the library: reading really is for everyone! ❤️ With a curious bear, a love of books, and a fun story about discovering the joy of reading, this is a great pick to share with your little reader.

Want to read it for yourself? We have 2 physical copies available in our library system-one at the Cookeville Branch and one at the Monterey Branch! You can also find 1 eBook copy on Libby, plus 1 Read-Along version on Libby so children can listen and follow along with the story. 🎧📖

Check it out and see if your family agrees with our review! ⭐🐻

💪 Staying active, building strength, and moving with confidence!

We had another great FREE class at the Algood Branch Library with retired physical therapist Mr. Rolando Cruz! Participants worked through easy-to-follow exercises focused on improving balance, coordination, strength, and fall prevention.

While Mr. Cruz leads his in-person classes at our Algood Branch, we’re sharing these videos across all Putnam County Library System branches because we believe seniors and active adults throughout our entire community can benefit from them. ❤️ Whether you visit Cookeville, Algood, Baxter, or Monterey, this resource is for you!

📱 Couldn’t attend in person? You can still participate! Follow along with this class from home and watch for future exercise videos on our pages and Putnam County Library System YouTube channel.

Our libraries are about more than books-we’re here to provide resources that support learning, connection, wellness, and quality of life at every age.

Please exercise at your own risk and consult your doctor before beginning any exercise program. Participation is voluntary, and participants assume any risks associated with performing these exercises.

A Powerful Afternoon of History at the Library

We had a wonderful turnout for our Author Event with local author and retired U.S. Ambassador Matthew S. Klimow, who joined us to discuss his book, As the Pentagon Burned.

Ambassador Klimow shared his firsthand account of September 11, 2001, when he was serving inside the Pentagon’s National Military Command Center. His perspective gave those in attendance a unique opportunity to hear history directly from someone who experienced one of the most consequential days in modern American history from inside the Pentagon.

As we approach the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, programs like this give our community an opportunity to learn, reflect, ask questions, and better understand the events that helped shape our nation.

Thank you to Ambassador Klimow for sharing his experiences with us, and thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this such a meaningful and well-supported event.

📚 Libraries are more than places to read about history-they are places where our community can come together to hear it, discuss it, and learn from those who lived it.

🐾Pages & Paws was full of stories, smiles, and wagging tails!

Buddy, Skye, and Tibi joined us for another wonderful morning at the library! ❤️ But Pages & Paws is about more than spending time with our favorite therapy dogs-it’s about creating a welcoming space where young children can build positive connections with books, practice listening skills, and grow more comfortable and confident around animals.

Programs like this help make early literacy fun and memorable. When children associate reading and the library with experiences they enjoy, we’re helping build a love of learning that can grow right along with them. 📖🐶

A big thank-you to everyone who joined us and, of course, to Buddy, Skye, and Tibi for making the morning extra special!
