📣 Congratulations to Our Newly Promoted Employee!🎉

The Conyers Police Department proudly congratulates Officer First Class Reynolds on earning his promotion after successfully completing the required coursework and presentation to achieve the rank of Officer First Class.

OFC Reynolds serves in our Criminal Investigations Division and is assigned to the Crime Scene Unit. As part of the promotion process, his presentation highlighted the importance of the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN), a program managed by the Bureau of Alcohol, To***co, Fi****ms and Explosives (ATF). NIBIN is a valuable tool that helps law enforcement agencies identify and link ballistic evidence, supporting criminal investigations and enhancing public safety.

🦮 Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at K9 J***y in action! 🦮

Recently, our K-9 Unit was requested by the federal agency, Alcohol, To***co, Fi****ms and Explosives (ATF), to assist in apprehending a violent wanted individual.

If the suspect had attempted to escape through the back door, K9 J***y would have greeted him and helped apprehend him. Fortunately, the wanted person remained calm and was taken into custody without any incident.

We are always grateful for our K9 partners like K9 J***y, who provide us with an additional tool to help our community by removing violent criminals and ensuring our safety.

The 100 Days of Summer H.E.A.T. (Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic) campaign runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day. During this time, law enforcement agencies across Georgia work together to reduce deadly crashes, enforce traffic laws, and keep our roads safe for everyone.

Last week, Lieutenant Blanchette (pictured on the left in the rear) and Deputy Chief Lucas (not pictured) met with members of the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) to conduct a site-walk and audit of the intersection of Sigman Road and Highway 138.

The purpose of this meeting was to observe and discuss measures that could be implemented to improve traffic safety at this intersection, which is notorious for its high number of crashes. We are collaborating with state partners like the GDOT to address roadway safety, which is one of the five public safety priorities for our police department.

The Conyers Police Department would like to help share an important reminder regarding the Big Haynes Creek Nature Center. Please note that fishing is not permitted anywhere on the Georgia International Horse Park property.

We encourage everyone to enjoy the trails, scenery, and wildlife while visiting the park — and remember to “catch a memory, not a fish!” 🐢🌿🐟

We’ve recently been made aware of a TikTok video sharing incorrect information about fishing at the Big Haynes Creek Nature Center. To help avoid confusion, we’d like to kindly remind everyone that fishing is not permitted anywhere on the Georgia International Horse Park property.

Big Haynes Creek Nature Center was created to protect and preserve the natural habitat for wildlife, plants, and aquatic ecosystems. Keeping the wetlands a no-fishing area helps ensure this special place remains healthy and peaceful for generations to enjoy.

We invite everyone to come explore the trails, enjoy the scenery, observe wildlife, and “catch a memory, not a fish!” 🐢🌿🐟

🚔 CONYERS POLICE DEPARTMENT JUNIOR POLICE ACADEMY 🚔

The Conyers Police Department is excited to announce our Junior Police Academy for youth ages 12–17!

This hands-on program is designed to teach students about law enforcement, discipline, responsibility, and positive decision-making while building relationships with officers and learning about careers in public safety.

Participants will:
🔹 Meet members of the police department
🔹 Learn about the Patrol Division
🔹 Explore Crime Scene Investigations
🔹 See a K-9 Demonstration
🔹 Experience a Drone Demonstration
🔹 Tour the Rockdale County Jail
🔹 Learn about gang violence prevention
🔹 Discuss laws related to the school system
