🌿 It’s South Carolina Native Plant Week! 🌿

Each day this week, we’ll celebrate by highlighting ways native plants support clean water in South Carolina. Today, it’s all about gardening like a local!

Unlike exotic ornamentals, native plants are uniquely adapted to South Carolina’s climate, soils, and wildlife, making them a natural fit for home landscaping.

Because they thrive here, native plants typically do not require added irrigation, fertilizers, or pesticides, and are generally lower maintenance once they are established. Even better, skipping fertilizers and chemicals reduces the nutrient pollution that can wash into our rivers, lakes, and wetlands.

Native plants also attract pollinators and support beneficial wildlife, making your landscape more vibrant and resilient.
