It would be impossible to do what we do without the support of our local educators, counselors and administrators. So it was so great to get to recognize one of the best principals we have the privilege of working with. Ms. Driggers is without a doubt deeply involved in the success of every student at her school and cares about her school and community passionately. Thank you so much Ms. Driggers for being our partner in education.

Had a great time working with Aynor High School’s soccer team at their pre-season get together. Played some indoor soccer and got to eat and share how the Guard can make positive impacts in their lives and their communities.

Shout out to Carolina Forest high school bands for an amazing night of great music. A special thank you to Mr. Roddy the director for allowing me to conduct Sleigh Ride tonight. First time conducting in 4 years and I was truly honored. These musicians put on an incredible show and are so talented. Oh and I saw Kayla Morrin too of the 246th Army Band.

Always a great day when we can support our local high schools. Aynor High School JROTC cadets got to experience a taste of the field, high ropes and some good food. Some great training and experiences provided for these students.

Excited to share what life in the National Guard is like with these students, and let them show off the skills they learned in class. They took MRE’s (meals ready to eat) and attempted to make unique entrees out of them. They did a phenomenal job and really shined. Thanks to Ms. Meyers and her students for having us out.

Thank you to Mark Roddy and Ben Andersen and the Carolina Forest High Scool band for having us in today. It was awesome to get the chance to feed these talented young adults as well as provide the with a master class from members of the 246 Army Band. Another thanks to SGT Ray and Long and SPC Kayla Morrin for all their hard work this week. What an awesome week working with you all.

It was awesome hosting the NJROTC’s of Conway High School, Carolina Forest High School and North Myrtle Beach High School for the annual leadership camp. These wonderful student learned about first aid, NBC protective gear and many other skills in the Army National Guard. Then they combined all they learned into a relay challenge. Thanks to the instructors and students for a wonderful day.

Cannot say enough about how amazing it is to see such a bright future for this Soldier. PVT Johnson joined the National Guard to serve her community and country as well as getting the chance to live her dream of playing college ball. A big thanks to Spartanburg Methodist College for the photo. And keep it up girl, you’re going to do big things. So proud of you.

Do you know what BSEP is? The Basic Skills Education Program (BSEP) is a week long course that helps Soldiers improve their basic math and English skills in preparation for college, college entrance exams, and the AFCT. BSEP is offered at most Army bases as well as some ARNG States. To learn more, contact your State Education Office.
