Conway Trees (Conway Tree Board)

Conway Trees (Conway Tree Board) The City of Conway Tree Board works to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of Conway. It was the first year Conway has received this national recognition.

The City of Conway Tree Board was created by the City Council (O-06-26) to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of Conway, to protect the health and safety of the residents of Conway, and to protect the environment by providing the development of a Community Forest Management Plan for the regulation of the planting, maintenance, removal, and protection of trees on public property within the Cit

y of Conway. In March 2007, The National Arbor Day Foundation named Conway a Tree City USA community to honor its commitment to community forestry. The City of Conway Tree Board meets on the first Monday of each month at Town Hall Square in City Hall (1111 Main St. Conway) at 4:30 p.m. If the first Monday falls on a holiday, the Board will meet the following Monday. All meetings are open to the public.

The Arbor Day Foundation named Conway a 2025 Tree City USA in honor of its commitment to plant, grow, and maintain trees to benefit the community.

To earn Tree City USA recognition, a city must uphold four core standards including maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry, and participating in an Arbor Day celebration.

The Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program is operated in partnership with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service. To learn more about Tree City USA and other Arbor Day Foundation programs, visit arborday.org/programs.

Just a reminder that our Bradford Pear Bounty Program is still going on. The first 25 people who email photos proving they removed a Bradford pear will get a free native tree replacement this fall. The fall trees will be larger-sized and potted. Email photos to [email protected] .

Conway, we need to talk.

If you’ve stepped outside lately & thought, “Why does it smell like a seafood market behind a gas station?” You’re not alone. For a moment, you might assume a truck hauling tilapia wiped out in one of our 73 roundabouts.

Bad News: it’s not fish.
Worse News: it’s Bradford pears.

Those fluffy white trees blooming all over town are invasive, structurally weak, & responsible for Conway’s signature Spring fragrance: Eau de Decaying Co**se.

So the Conway Tree Board is putting out a bounty. The first 25 households that remove a Bradford pear and send us before & after photos will receive a FREE native replacement tree at our Arbor Day celebration. You remove the Bradford pear. We’ll help you plant something way better…native trees that won’t make the neighborhood stop mid-walk and ask, “…what died?!”

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to get rid of that Bradford pear, this is it. 🌳
