Conroe Community Cemetery Restoration Project

Conroe Community Cemetery Restoration Project The Conroe Community Cemetery, also known as No-Name Cemetery, is an abandoned cemetery in the middl The people buried there deserve better.

The Conroe Community Cemetery is one of the first, if not the first, black cemetery in Conroe, Texas. Early graves date to the 1890s and it is believed the last burial occurred in 1966. The cemetery has basically been abandoned and has become overgrown, trashed, and an eye sore. This page is to bring attention to the need to clean and restore the cemetery as well as to get a Texas Historical Cemet

ery designation in order to protect it further. Any and all assistance in cleaning, restoring, obtaining Texas Historical Cemetery designation, and continued maintenance for the future is greatly appreciated. A website is being developed to show the need and progress of this project.

There has been vandalism at the Conroe Community Cemetery. Someone has cut a hole in the fence on the west side which is only 100 ft from a gate so it's pretty useless to do that. The other hole was cut in the fence on the north side to gain entry to the Conroe College property. Also the security light we uninstalled at the entrance to the cemetery has been broken. This has been reported to the police.
