Montgomery County Food Bank is a nonprofit hunger relief organization dedicated to uniting the community to fight hunger. Montgomery County Food Bank provides meals to families, seniors and children who lack access to wholesome nourishing food through a network of 90+ partner agencies, local school districts and community partners. Through partnerships with local retailers and wholesalers, Montgom

ery County Food Bank receives and purposefully distributes donated and surplus food. True to its mission, Montgomery County Food Bank works alongside volunteers, corporate and community partners, and nonprofit agencies to build a community where everyone has access to sufficient, nutritious food. Today is National Food Bank Day, the first Friday of September, set aside to recognize the food banks that keep this country's hunger relief network running.

Food banks exist because hunger doesn't always look the way you expect it to. It can be a family hit with an expense they never saw coming that ate the month's grocery budget in a single afternoon. A senior choosing between feeding herself or feeding her dog. A kid who eats twice a day at school and waits out the weekend.

A food bank isn't a pantry. It is the supply line behind the pantry. Montgomery County Food Bank rescues, receives, and distributes food at a scale no single church or nonprofit could manage alone, then puts it into the hands of 90+ partner agencies who know their neighbors by name.

In the fourth fastest-growing county in the nation, the supply line for help has to keep growing too. Somewhere in Montgomery County tonight, a mom is going to put dinner on the table and nobody will ever know how close it came. Thank you for making it possible.

We fill the trucks so our partners can fill the tables 🍎

This week, The Journey of Food continues through our network of more than 90 partner agencies across Montgomery County. Montgomery County Food Bank sources the food, sorts it, and packs it in our warehouse, then delivers it directly to local organizations that know their communities and the neighbors they serve.

From there, dedicated staff and volunteers stock pantry shelves, pack grocery bags, and prepare meals. Together, we extend the reach of every donation and help food complete its journey to our neighbors' tables.

September is here and so is Hunger Action Month. Here are three easy ways to get involved and play your part in the fight against hunger:

🏈 Donate. Every dollar helps us keep food moving to neighbors across the county, and with 96% of all gifts going directly to our Food Bank programs, you know your dollar is working hard for Montgomery County.

🏈 Volunteer. Grab a shift and see the work firsthand. Our volunteer experience is dynamic, high-energy, and impactful. Groups are welcome, and we can take volunteers as young as 7 with an adult chaperone.

🏈 Spread the word. Share our find food map, talk about this work in your circles, and tag us anytime you see a neighbor's post looking for food. Let neighbors know that help is here.
