On 05/30/26, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on FM 3083 in Conroe and made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Stephen Cullens, 27 of Cleveland.

In January 2026, the Montgomery County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office Detective assigned to the Houston Area Internet Crimes Against Children launched an investigation regarding the offense of Possession of Child Po*******hy. During the investigation, the Pct 2 Detective identified Gerardo Lopez-Zuniga, 24 of Conroe, as the suspect.

On May 28th, 2026, a search warrant was executed at Lopez-Zuniga’s residence where evidence was collected. Lopez-Zuniga was taken into custody and charged with three counts of Possession of Child Po*******hy, a third degree felony, one count of Promotion of Child Po*******hy, a second degree felony, and one count of ProMotion of Child Po*******hy-Sexual Assault, a first degree felony. Lopez-Zuniga’s bonds totaled $220K.

We appreciate the collaboration with our partners at the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and all agencies involved in the ICAC task Force. During the summer months, crashes, impaired driving incidents, drownings, and other preventable tragedies increase across our communities. A single bad decision can have lifelong consequences.

Whether you’re traveling, enjoying time on the water, or spending time with family and friends, please do your part to help keep Montgomery County safe:

• Avoid distracted driving
• Slow down and stay alert

During National Police Week, we pause to remember the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication of the law enforcement officers who gave their lives in service and to the communities they swore to protect.

Today, we honor eight fallen heroes of Montgomery County whose legacies continue to live on through the lives they touched and the service they provided:

• Sheriff Samuel Grimmett, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office- End of Watch: April 11, 1847
�• Deputy Abner B. Womack, Sr., Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office- End of Watch: April 7, 1876
�• Constable Thomas Beyett, Montgomery County Constable Precinct 3- End of Watch: August 6, 1931
�• Sergeant Ed Holcomb, Jr., Conroe Police Department- End of Watch: September 14, 1982
�• Officer Peter Johnson, Jr., Lone Star College System (formerly NHMCCD)- End of Watch: June 8, 1997
�• Deputy John David Garcia, Montgomery County Constable Precinct 5- End of Watch: July 17, 2003
�• Sergeant Stacey Baumgartner, Patton Village Police Department- End of Watch: June 19, 2016
�• Deputy Charles Rivette, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office- End of Watch: February 21, 2024

These officers made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving others: responding to dangerous calls, pursuing suspects, and carrying out the everyday duties of law enforcement that can turn tragic in an instant.

Their courage, commitment, and selflessness will never be forgotten. Montgomery County continues to honor these heroes through memorial ceremonies, roadway dedications, and tributes that ensure their legacy lives on for generations to come.

During this solemn ceremony, we joined together to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.
