Conroe Police Department, Texas The Conroe Police Department is the largest municipality in Montgomery County Texas and is led by Chief Jon Buckholtz.

The Conroe Police Department is comprised of 148 sworn officers, 45 civilian employees, and numerous civilian volunteers. All are committed men and women dedicated to creating a safer environment and providing quality service to the 92,000 plus citizens of Conroe, the thousands of visitors to our city and the approximately 76 square miles of city we serve.

🚨Media Release🚨
On June 18th, 2026, at approximately 06:14 am, the Conroe Police Department responded to a disturbance with weapons at the Alta Sergeant apartments located at 650 Sgt. Ed Holcomb North. As Conroe Police Officers arrived, they located a 14-year-old juvenile male in the parking lot with a single gunshot wound. Patrol Officers immediately provided medical aid to the 14-year-old, who was alert and conscious. Montgomery County EMS subsequently transported the juvenile victim to a local area hospital.

Conroe Police Officers located the apartment where the juvenile had been shot and discovered that two juvenile male suspects, 14-15 years of age, had been on location at the time of the shooting but had fled the scene before police arrived. Conroe Police Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were called to the location and are currently investigating the shooting.

A few hours later, both juvenile suspects were located and taken into custody. Both juvenile suspects were charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (Felony 2) and transported to the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center. The investigation is still ongoing, and no further details can be released at this time. Due to the ages of the victim and suspects, no names will be released.

The juvenile victim is currently in stable condition at a local area hospital. Chief Jon Buckholtz and the Conroe Police Department send their thoughts and prayers to the juvenile victim and his family during this tragic event.

We had the honor of recognizing several Conroe Police Department families and their newest additions today at the Conroe PD Rookie Celebration. This special event brings together officers and their families who welcomed a baby in 2025.

In 2025, a total of 12 babies were born to CPD officers. We are proud to celebrate these growing families and this exciting chapter in their lives. Congratulations to all of our CPD parents and their little ones!

Today, we were honored to take part in a first responder parade celebrating the 105th birthday of Mr. George Waters.

Mr. Waters is a World War II veteran who served as a ball turret gunner aboard a B-17 Flying Fortress in the US Army Air Corps. On his 25th mission over Germany, his aircraft was shot down. He and six of his fellow crew members survived but were captured and held as prisoners of war. Mr. Waters spent 15 months in captivity before being liberated at the end of the war.

It is truly a privilege to help celebrate such an incredible milestone with an American hero. From all of us here at the Conroe Police Department, Happy 105th Birthday, Mr. Waters, and thank you for your service, sacrifice, and dedication to our country.

🚨Media Release🚨
On June 9th, 2026 at 2:12 pm, the Conroe Police Department was dispatched to 1200 League Line Rd. (McDonald’s restaurant) in reference to an active disturbance. As patrol officers arrived, they learned that an 18-year-old male, later identified as Jeremiah Lawson, was possibly having a mental health crisis and suicidal ideations while seated in a vehicle in the parking lot of McDonald’s.

Patrol Officers established contact with Lawson and attempted to persuade him to exit the vehicle peacefully. Lawson was armed with several knives and refused officers’ commands to exit the vehicle. Due to Lawson being armed and refusing commands, the Conroe Police SWAT team was called out along with negotiators. During the standoff, Lawson was belligerent and made various “suicide by cop” statements while in communication with Officers. After a lengthy standoff, for approximately two hours, Lawson was extracted from the vehicle using less
lethal munitions and taken into custody.

Lawson was placed under an EDO (Emergency Detention Order) and transported to a local area hospital where he is currently receiving medical attention. While at the hospital, Lawson became combative and made violent threats towards Conroe Police Officers. The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted the criminal charge of Retaliation (Felony 3) against Lawson. Once Lawson is medically cleared, he will be transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Chief Buckholtz and the Conroe Police Department are thankful that this tense situation did not escalate further and that Lawson was taken into custody without further incident.

• Officer Paul Caughman - Officer Caughman responded to a stabbing and found a female victim with multiple stab wounds in shock. He quickly applied a tourniquet and kept her calm until EMS arrived. Hospital staff later confirmed that Officer Caughman's quick action saved the life of the female victim.

In 2024, Officers Barron and Dandy responded to a sexual assault in progress. Upon arrival, they heard screaming and found an armed man holding a gun on both the victim and himself, with evidence of an ongoing assault. After ordering him to drop his weapon, he turned the gun on the officers, leaving them no choice but to fire, stopping the threat and protecting the victim. Both officers displayed courage and professionalism under extraordinarily dangerous circumstances.
⭐ Civilian Employee of the Year
• Brandi Welch - Recognized for her outstanding dedication, professionalism, resilience, and commitment to supporting both the community and fellow employees. Her leadership in developing a peer support program has had a lasting impact on the department.
⭐ Officer of the Year
• Investigator Caitlin Adams - Recognized for exceptional performance within the Special Victims Unit. In 2024, she handled approximately 134 cases, made 28 arrests, obtained 24 warrants, and investigated numerous serious crimes involving children and vulnerable victims. Her dedication to justice, victim advocacy, and mentorship exemplifies the highest standards of the Conroe Police Department.

Her professionalism, leadership, and commitment to excellence make her a highly deserving Officer of the Year.

🚨Media Release🚨
On June 1, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a deputy with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office discovered a suspicious package in the 200 block of West Phillips Street. The package was located next to the deputy's patrol vehicle and was leaning against the rear wheel.

Officers with the Conroe Police Department, Montgomery County District Attorney’s Investigators, and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and assisted by securing the area, closing nearby intersections, and
ensuring the safety of surrounding businesses and residents.

The Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office responded promptly and conducted a thorough assessment of the package. Through their diligent efforts, the package was determined to be safe and posed no threat to the public.
Once the scene was rendered safe, all road closures were lifted, and the area was
reopened to normal activity.

The Conroe Police Department Criminal Investigations Division has taken possession of the package and will continue investigating along with the Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office. The Conroe Police Department would like to thank the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office, and all responding personnel for their coordinated efforts in ensuring the safety of the community.

Around 5:00 PM, a suspicious package was located in the downtown area. As a precaution, the area was evacuated. The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office responded and has rendered the package safe.

The Conroe Police Department will be leading the investigation. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and patience during this incident.
