Melanie is joining the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce this week in Washington, D.C. for a Fly In with multiple meetings with elected officials and government agencies.
Last night the Greater Houston Partnership held a reception for all from the Houston Metroplex in town. What a pleasure to run into Township Directors Cindy Heiser and Adam Lamb! Commissioner Matt Gray is also in town for some important meetings!
Montgomery County was well represented by these three, plus Township Director Linda Nelson, Chamber Representatives Scott Harper, Clint Nichols, Collin McKenzie, Guy Barker and Bryan Fowler.

Yesterday, the Montgomery County Bail Bond Board voted to appoint County Treasurer Melanie Bush as its Presiding Officer. The Bail Bond Board is responsible for the licensing, regulation, and oversight of collateral requirements for bail bonding companies operating within Montgomery County.

After previously serving on both the Complaint Committee and the Audit Committee, Mrs. Bush will now preside over board meetings and help guide the board’s ongoing work.

“It is an honor to serve our community in this capacity alongside my fellow board members, including Judge Hutson, Judge Mack, District Clerk Melisa Miller, and the designees of other elected officials. I thank Alexis Van de Ven Seda, surety representative, for her dedication and hard work during her tenure as Presiding Officer. Throughout the seven years I have served on this board, we have accomplished a great deal—creating the Complaint and Audit Committees, addressing local rules, and standardizing procedures that had long been in practice but not formalized. It is a privilege to work with such a dedicated group of board members and bonding companies' representatives, who all contribute to this important work.”

The Montgomery County Bail Bond Board holds public meetings on the third Tuesday of each month at noon in the Commissioners Courtroom at the Sadler Building.

As we reflect on 2025, we are grateful!

This year saw the restoration of office space for the office! An incredible level of collaboration with other department and elected officials enabling greater efficiency and better management of taxpayer dollars! Multiple speaking engagements allowed Melanie to highlight the tremendous and amazing job of the County Treasurer team!

We closed the fiscal year in September with over 16 million in Investment Earnings for the county, saving the taxpayers from being taxed that much more! Over the course of Melanie's time in office a total of over 72 million in Investment Earnings has been made!

We assisted the Montgomery County Food Bank with their Holiday Helpings Food Drive! Many individuals and offices came alongside our office to donate more than 250 meals this year!

As you and yours reflect on 2025, know that our team is looking forward into 2026, determined to serve to the best of our abilities! Thank you for allowing us to honor God and serve you!

What an amazing week! Budget hearings Tuesday through yesterday! And celebrating one of our own!

On Wednesday, August 13th, Demetrich Carrington celebrated 18 years with Montgomery County and almost 3 years with our office. DeeDee serves as the Bail Bond Board Administrator, as well as handles the monthly reporting for all the JPs, County Clerk and District Clerk! We are so grateful for DeeDee's bright light! She makes our office so much better.
Happy 18th work-a-versary! We love you!

The overriding goals of this office are two fold: serve the taxpayer and make a difference with everyone that contacts our office.
Everyday the amazing ladies in the office do those things, but it's a rare occurrence when our help ends with this cool of a result.
Friday afternoon, a random call was forwarded to our office, a common occurrence when others in the county don't know how to help someone. We are always grateful for the opportunity to make a difference.
This call was different! It was from a man looking for a resident. He collects WWII memorabilia and had traced this canteen to the daughter of the soldier and she lives in Montgomery County. He had reached out multiple times via Facebook, he told Judy Wall. He was pretty sure his messages were not getting through. He had hoped to find a directory of residents or something. Judy didn't have many ideas, other than property records to possibly mail something to them.
She placed him on hold to ask me if I had any ideas. I asked who it was he was looking for, maybe we could find them. He told us the name of the daughter and her husband. I checked her Facebook profile and found we had a few mutual friends. I called one to see if she was a "real" friend or just a Facebook friend! Great news! She was! The lady's daughter had worked for my friend. Through Deb, our office facilitated the connection and this canteen is going back to where it belongs! The family of a WWIi veteran!
What a joyous way to start off Independence Week!

Grateful Melanie is able to serve our residents in her roles with the County Treasurers' Association of Texas, while the rest of the team holds down the fort at the office.

The County Treasurers’ Association of Texas is officially kicking off our 53rd Annual Continuing Education Seminar — a week dedicated to professional growth, collaboration, and community!

We’re starting the day off at our CTAT Board Meeting as we continue shaping the direction of our association and advocating for the important work county treasurers do across Texas.

Stay tuned for updates, photos, and highlights throughout the week. 🙌🏼
