Most likely you have heard we have been dealing with the passing of counterfeit bills recently. These bills are very good facsimiles! However, many of them have some sort of Asian writing on them and it is red in color. Some of those who are trying to pass them are attempting to erase the writing.

For you business owners, make sure you are using a counterfeit pen or checking the bill for indicators that are placed in real US currency. These bills do not feel the same either. The paper quality is subpar. We suggest checking $20 bills and higher, but be aware any bill can be counterfeited.

We do have the names of several suspects that are involved, and if you are one of them and would like to come to the police department to talk about this situation before we show up at your house with a pair of shiny silver bracelets please feel free to do so. We are open 24/7, 365 days a year.

As always if you have any information that would help us in combating these incidents any and all information sent to us is kept confidential.

ATTENTION!!!

We were recently made aware of a person contacting our community seeking "donations" for a police sponsored summer camp.

We want to make everyone aware that this is not your local Fraternal Order of Police, and from our understanding this is an individual with a legitimate, for-profit company. None of his funds go towards any law enforcement charity that we know of. We believe this is this company's way of preying on the good people who are willing to help others.

We were also given the name of Steve Adams with a phone number of 765-209-1412 that is being used.

If you receive any calls from someone wanting for you to donate money please do your research and make sure they are not scamming you. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact your local law enforcement agency and ask.

We have been made aware of yet another scam in our area. These happen all too frequently and they typically go after the elderly and the lonely. Please offer assistance to those who may not have use social media resources and tell them about these scams.

We have heard of the following:
-a family member is incarcerated and needs bailed out
-you have won the lottery and need to pay the taxes or obtain an insurance policy
-a person is wanting to come visit you from another country (these are typically women seeking a "relationship" from a male)
-the IRS is gong to issue a warrant for your arrest if you do not pay your taxes

Finally, keep an eye on your credit reports for identity theft. We have had several issues in which someone is obtaining credit cards, purchasing items, and the like. Your credit reports are available to you through a variety of sources such as the credit reporting agencies: Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. Just make sure the place you use is reputable, or ask your financial institution for advice.

Regarding some of your posts in reference to posting better or higher quality pictures:

We are not CSI: Miami or Quantico or any other television show. We do not possess the equipment that these shows depict. We are not even sure if these pieces of equipment even exist, and if they do they are way beyond what our budget would allow. We can only work with what we have.

Also, many of the pictures and videos given to us are not of the highest quality either. A camera system is only as good as what the owner wants to purchase. Most high def camera systems run in the thousands to tens of thousands of dollars. In business, this is called overhead and those costs are passed down to the consumer.

So please bare with us when we post pictures or videos. Our greatest piece of equipment is YOU! We do the very best we can with what we have to work with.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Capt. Chris Scott, his family, and our family of blue in the loss of K9, Diesel. Diesel has been a great asset to this department and will be greatly missed. Words cannot describe how we all feel knowing we lost one of our own. Diesel was not just a dog, he was on officer and a damn good one!

Diesel,
Until we meet again over the rainbow, keep those streets of gold safe as we all know you will!
