The Fayette County Probation Department has an opening for an Adult Probation Officer.

NOTICE OF JOB OPENING

Position Title: Adult Probation Officer (Grant-funded)

Salary: $42,311 (Minimum Salary Schedule for Probation Officers for 2025)
Status: Full Time
FSLA Status: Non-Exempt

Major duties include:
-Supervises, meets, and monitors assigned probationers.
-Maintains accurate case files.
-Prepares and files documents for Court hearings and testifies in Court as directed.
-Makes referrals for services to meet the needs of the probationer and collaborates with various referral/community agencies.
-Conducts field/home visits of probationers.
-Conducts drug and alcohol screenings.
-Attends staff meetings, educational sessions and seminars as required.
-Maintains current knowledge of applicable local, state and federal rules/regulations.
-Serves as Department representative on various committees as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university required.
-Must be at least 21 years of age and must be a US citizen.
-Pass a background check with no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions for domestic violence.
-Possession of or ability to obtain Probation Officer certification as established by the State Judicial Conference within six months of hire.
-Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
-Ability to work alone with minimum supervision and with others in a team environment.
-Adapts readily to new situations, changes in the workplace and work well under pressure.
-Possesses problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
-Willingness and working understanding of promoting positive change while holding probationers accountable.
-Ability to attend continuing educational courses.
-Ability to occasionally work extended hours and travel out of town, sometimes overnight.
-Possession of a valid driver's license.
