📢 Fayette County Smart911 Alerts: Important System Update & Action Required
First, we want to apologize. Many of you received multiple phone calls, text messages, and emails for the Flood Warning sent out yesterday. Our system experienced a technical glitch with the way those specific alerts were configured, causing them to repeat. We appreciate your patience as we worked to resolve this.

If you receive a phone call, text, or email from (833) 499-7671, this is NOT spam. This is the temporary official number for Fayette County Smart911 alerts. We are currently configuring our permanent number so that your Caller ID will explicitly display "Fayette County" in the future. Please save this number to your contacts for now.
🔄 Why did I get multiple alerts, and how do I fix it?
When we transitioned to Smart911, contact information from our previous alerting systems was imported automatically. This gave us a baseline list of names, phone numbers, and addresses, which the system labels as "Managed Contacts."
Because data came from multiple older systems, many residents have duplicate entries. The system treats each entry as a separate person, which is why some of you received the same alert multiple times yesterday.
🚨 Critical Deadline: September 1, 2026
To fix the duplicate issue and ensure you keep receiving emergency notifications, you need to claim your profile. We will be sunsetting the old "Managed Contacts" list on September 1, 2026. If you do not create a profile by then, you will stop receiving alerts.
When you register, the system will automatically consolidate your information and move you to the active public list.

Take control of your alerts by creating a new account or logging into your existing one. This allows you to:
• Get Geo-Targeted Alerts: Add your specific address to receive warnings that only impact your immediate area.
• Choose Your Alert Types: Select exactly what you want to hear about (weather, traffic, local emergencies, and more).
• Choose Your Delivery Method: Tell the system whether you prefer text messages, emails, voice calls, or all three.
