Did you know that I love playing guitar? I also make guitars. I am playing a Gibson, but one of my hand made guitars is standing behind me! 🎸

The Emery Family was honored to participate in the Ashtabula City Memorial Day Parade and attend the service at Veterans Park. We have a moral obligation to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of our nation.

Stopped in this morning for the pancake breakfast, which supported one of Conneaut's great events, the Red, White, and Boom Over Lake Erie Festival. I also ran into Judge Albert Camplese!

As we start this Memorial Day weekend, spending time with family and friends, let's never forget that the day is meant to pay tribute to those who gave their lives in defense of this nation. We commemorate those who paid the ultimate price, as well as those who did not die while in service to this nation but later died from their service to it.

Republicans have controlled Ashtabula County government for more than a decade.

The county commissioner's office: Republican since 2014. The auditor — appointed by the Republican commissioners in 2025, never elected. The sheriff, prosecutor, treasurer, clerk of courts, engineer: all Republican.

After 12 years of total one-party control, here's where we stand:

→ Nearly 1 in 5 county residents lives in poverty, sitting at 19% Countywide
→ Median household income sits at $55,507 — and has been declining
→ Young people and families continue to leave

Republicans had their chance. They've had all the chances.

This November, Ashtabula County has two Democrats on the ballot who will fight for working families: Jayson Noscal for County Commissioner and Oakey Emery for County Auditor.

Same leadership = same results. It's time to vote for change. Vote Ashtabula County Democrats this November!

I watched the video, and pointing out that Ohio is part of PJM is true — but it’s also being used to gloss over what’s really going on.

Saying “we’re building 7 new power plants so bills will go down” just isn’t the full picture.

Ohio already has around 200 data centers, with roughly another 100 planned or under construction. These aren’t small users — a single large facility can use as much electricity as 100,000 homes. On top of that, developers have already locked in contracts for massive amounts of power.

So yes, we’re adding generation — but we’re also adding enormous new demand at the same time, and a lot of that demand is coming from data centers, not Ohio households.

That’s the part that feels misleading. These plants feed into a regional grid, and much of that new capacity is being built to serve large-scale users. There’s no guarantee Ohio families are the ones seeing the benefit, even though our communities are carrying the impact.

So when we hear “it’ll get worse before it gets better,” the real question is — better for who?

Because right now, it looks like we’re building just to keep up with demand, not to bring relief to the people actually paying these bills.

Cleaning up brownfield sites is important for the revitalization of our county, but it must be done in a manner that ensures that dangerous chemicals are removed. As a Conneaut City Council member, I have been working to ensure that General Electric takes responsibility for the safe demolition of its abandoned site in Conneaut.
