Today at 4:11pm, Conklin Fire and mutual aid departments were dispatched to 12 Midway Dr. in Conklin for a reported house fire with possible entrapment. Law enforcement arrived on scene shortly afterward and confirmed a working fire, and all occupants were out of the residence. Chief 46A requested a second alarm, bringing additional mutual aid units to the scene. Squad 21, Training 21, and Fire Marshal 21 also responded from the City of Binghamton.

Squad 21 arrived on scene first and deployed a hose line to the 2nd floor and began fire suppression efforts. Crews from Squad 46 and Tower 46 arrived and assisted with water supply, ventilation,and opening up the walls and ceiling to expose any remaining fire. The fire was knocked down quickly and fire damage was contained to the second floor area where the fire originated.

No injuries were reported on the scene. The cause of the fire was deemed electrical in nature.

Our annual open house is this Saturday from Noon-3pm at Station 1 (in front of the school). We welcome everyone to stop down and see what we are all about. Come see some of our new trucks and meet a group group of men and women. Volunteering is a crucial service to this community!!

At 13:02 on 4/8/26, Conklin Vol. Fire Dept and mutual aid departments were dispatched to 1808 Conklin Rd for a trailer fire with flames showing in the kitchen. Broome County dispatch received multiple calls for this incident, and it was immediately upgraded to a 2nd alarm by Chief 46B.

Engine 46 arrived on scene first and began defensive firefighting operations as fire conditions were well advanced. Crews extinguished all fire and transitioned into overhaul within 30 minutes.

All occupants made it out of the house and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This weekend, we took delivery of our new ATV 46! A 2026 Can-Am replaces our 2011 John Deere.

Fittingly, it took one day to put our new unit to the test as we responded to a brush fire across the border with Hallstead Fire Company off Route 29. This new unit was able to complete a creek crossing to help quickly extinguish the fire that was spreading. This task would not have been possible in our prior ATV!

We look forward to using our new machine to better protect and serve our community in the future.

The Conklin Volunteer Fire Department is proud to take delivery of our new Tanker 46!

We could not be more happy with the results of a 2+ year process. From planning to ex*****on, this truck is set up perfectly to serve the community for years to come.

This truck will replace our 23 year old Pumper Tanker and offers 3000 gallons of water storage, which is double the amount of our previous capabilities.

A big thank you again to Mark at Firehouse Apparatus for his continued support along the way. We look forward to our partnership into the future!

Over the next few weeks, we will be training and preparing to get the new rig in service to serve the community moving forward.
