Huge Thank You to Southeastern Minnesota EMS and Freeborn County Public Health for providing the Lucas Device! This device provides automated CPR compressions for patients. It is an expensive piece of medical equipment that many services just could not afford! Thank you !
JULY 20, 2026- FREEBORN, MN
Last night, members from several Freeborn County fire departments (10) were presented with new LUCAS devices, automated CPR machines that deliver consistent, high-quality chest compressions during cardiac arrest due to opioid overdoses, or other unknown conditions.
Through a partnership between Southeastern Minnesota EMS and Freeborn County Public Health, opioid settlement funding was utilized to provide this lifesaving equipment to departments that did not already have access to it.
This investment strengthens the ability of our rural first responders to provide the highest level of care when every second counts, especially in times where recruitment and retention are in dire need. The LUCAS device acts as a mother responder, freeing up a provider to conduct other crucial assessments and interventions.
Thank you to Freeborn County Public Health and the Freeborn County Board of Commissioners for partnering with us to improve emergency response and help save lives throughout our communities.
