We were happy to be part of this year’s Connect Conference and grateful to Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board for sharing these highlights. It was a great opportunity for GSWCD to present and share some of our innovative projects, connect with partners, and learn alongside others working to strengthen conservation efforts across Oregon. Exciting News from Gilliam County SWCD — Virtual Fencing Program Now Open for Applications!

After the successful emergency deployment of virtual fencing following the 2024 Lonerock Fire, Gilliam County SWCD is officially launching our Virtual Fencing Program, and we're looking for local producers who want to be part of it.

This program gives Gilliam County ranchers access to GPS-based livestock management technology through a shared equipment pool and cost-share model. We designed it to lower the barrier to entry so more producers can get hands-on experience without carrying the full upfront cost. If you're still recovering from fence losses after the Lonerock Fire, a beginning rancher curious about the technology, or an experienced operator looking to improve how you manage grazing, this program is worth a look.
