New Hampshire Office of the Consumer Advocate The Office of the Consumer Advocate represents the interests of residential utility customers before the NH Public Utilities Commission and elsewhere.

The Office of the Consumer Advocate (OCA) represents the interests of residential utility customers before the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and elsewhere. Consumer Advocate Donald M. Kreis became the fifth head of the OCA in February 2016. His predecessors (in chronological order) are Michael Holmes, Anne Ross, Meredith Hatfield and Susan Cham

berlin. When fully staffed, the OCA also employs a staff attorney, a deputy consumer advocate, an analyst and a legal aide.

The latest column from Consumer Advocate Don Kreis takes up the favorite topic of every energy maven in New Hampshire: nuclear power.

Fully a lifetime ago – on September 16, 1954 to be exact – the chairman of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission gave a speech in which he said, in relation to nuclear power, that “it is not too much to expect that our children will enjoy in their homes electrical energy too cheap to meter.”
