FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Robbery Investigation at Sunvalley Shopping Center

Concord, CA — On June 23, 2026, at approximately 3:12 p.m., Concord Police Department officers responded to a report of a robbery at Sunvalley Shopping Center.

The incident occurred inside the mall near Macy’s Women’s. Two masked male suspects approached the victim and grabbed his necklaces. A physical struggle occurred, and the suspects fled from the mall with the victim’s necklaces.

The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the confrontation.

Concord Police officers are reviewing surveillance footage from the area to help identify the suspects and determine whether any suspect vehicles were involved.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. No further information is being released at this time.

Officer Alonso joins CPD as a lateral officer from a Central Valley law enforcement agency, bringing five years of experience with him. After completing his in-house orientation, he will begin CPD’s Field Training Program.

🚨 CONCORD POLICE DEPARTMENT COMMUNITY ALERT 🚨

BE ON THE LOOKOUT (BOLO)

Concord Police Department is investigating a recent increase in residential burglaries, vehicle burglaries, and attempted vehicle thefts throughout the city.

CURRENT TARGETS INCLUDE:
• Lexus vehicles
• Honda vehicles
• Acura vehicles
• Pickup trucks
• Work trucks and contractor vehicles
• Tools and construction equipment left inside vehicles

CRIME PREVENTION TIPS

🔒 Lock all vehicle doors and windows.

🔑 Never leave keys or key fobs inside vehicles.

🛠 Remove tools, equipment, and valuables from vehicles when not in use.

🏠 Park inside a secured garage whenever possible.

🚗 Use steering wheel locks, GPS tracking devices, and vehicle alarm systems.

💡 Park in well-lit areas and consider installing security cameras.

👀 Report suspicious persons, vehicles, or activity immediately.

REMEMBER:
Criminals often target unlocked vehicles and visible property. Even a few minutes unattended can provide an opportunity for theft.

Congratulations to our 18 New CERT Graduates!

Over the course of three weekends, eighteen dedicated community members completed the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training program, learning important skills in disaster preparedness, fire safety, light search and rescue, disaster medical operations, emergency communications, and team organization. Their training included a hands-on exercise where they practiced working together safely and effectively during an emergency.

The City of Concord Police Department is proud to offer the California POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery-POST PELLETB Written Exam at the Concord Police Department in Concord.

The exam is FREE to attend. Limited seating is available.
The PELLETB is a multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank written examination designed to measure reading and writing ability. Applicants are given 2 ½ hours to complete the PELLETB.

While test takers may take the PELLET B multiple times to achieve the desired score, California POST prohibits test takers from testing more than one time in a 30-day period. Taking the test within 30 days of a prior POST PELLETB examination will result in invalidation of test results.

To comply with California POST security measures, we are required to view and retain your government-issued photo ID for the duration of the exam.

Please plan to arrive early. Doors open at 0830. Check-in is at 0845. Instructions will be ready at 0900 and the test begins promptly at 0930 hours. No entry will be allowed after 9am.

Recruiters from the Concord Police Department will be on hand to answer questions and speak to the event attendees.

Officer Hart joins Concord PD as a lateral officer from a Bay Area law enforcement agency and was recently sworn in as the newest member of our team.

Over the coming weeks, Officer Hart will complete his orientation period before beginning our Field Training Program, where he will continue learning the community, department operations, and the high standards of service expected at Concord PD.

PRESS RELEASE

Theft Suspects Arrested After Fleeing from Officers

Concord, CA — On June 3, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Concord Police officers responded to a report of a theft at the Ulta Beauty store located at the Willows Shopping Center.

Two male subjects reportedly entered the store and stole a large amount of fragrances. The subjects exited the store and left the area in a silver sedan.

CPD officers located the suspects on foot in the area of Thunderbird Drive and Cardinal Drive.

One subject was detained immediately while the other jumped a fence into a backyard. Officers conducted a yard-to-yard search for the second subject, who was later located and taken into custody.

The stolen merchandise was recovered.

This case remains under investigation. No further information is being released at this time.

Yesterday, a vehicle was stolen from the downtown area with a dog still inside.

Thanks to the quick work of our Dispatchers and Officers, the vehicle was located nearby, and thankfully the dog “Henry” was safely recovered and reunited with its owner.

While waiting to be reunited, Henry got to take a little ride with Officer Zukowski and receive some well-deserved scratches behind the ears.

For many people, pets are family. We’re grateful this story had a happy ending. 🐾 ~596
