The Division of Emergency Services and Communications mission is to locate, communicate, and connect people in an emergency. RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

The purpose of this page is to permit authorized employees to provide the public with information concerning the New Hampshire Department of Safety's and the Division of Emergency Services and Communications' mission, goals, programs, activities

, events, news, stories, photographs, and videos and to disseminate other information and material intended to increase public awareness. All postings/comments, in addition to being governed by the terms and conditions established by Facebook, are subject to the following Rules of Engagement as established by the State of New Hampshire Department of Information Technology.

• The use of obscene, threatening or harassing language is prohibited on
the State’s social media sites;
• Personal attacks of any kind or offensive comments that target or
disparage any ethnic, racial, age, or religious group, gender, sexual
orientation or disability is prohibited; and
• Comments should be related to the posted topic on the State’s social

Call if you can, text if you can’t. If you can’t speak, it’s not safe to speak, your cell phone battery is low or service is poor, you can text 911. The same compassionate professionals who answer voice calls will connect you to the help you need.
• Enter the numbers “911” in the “To” field. Include your location and nature of the emergency. Send your message.
• Answer all questions to the best of your ability and follow instructions you receive.
• Use words only. The system does not accept photos, videos, emojis, pinned locations, etc.

Did you know New Hampshire 911 has two Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs), located in Concord and Laconia, but they work together as part of a single, seamless system? When you call 911, your call isn’t directed based on which location is closer. Instead, every call is routed to the telecommunicator who has been available the longest between the two facilities, ensuring the fastest possible response.

To make them more accessible in the critical moments when they are needed, New Hampshire state law (RSA 153-A:33) requires AED owners to register their publicly available devices. When an AED is registered, its location is integrated into the 911 mapping system so that NH 911 telecommunicators can quickly identify and direct responders or bystanders to the nearest device during a cardiac emergency.

During Su***de Prevention Month, we want you to know: If you are in immediate danger, call or text 911. If you’re facing a mental health crisis and you don't need immediate police, fire, or medical assistance, call or text 988 for 24/7 support. If you call 911, we can connect you to 988. NH 911 CARES allows you to associate certain chronic medical conditions with a phone number or numbers. A CARES entry provides immediate actionable information to a call-taker. If a registered number calls NH 911, the telecommunicator will have immediate access to the information that has been submitted for this number, informing how they process the call.
