ACLU of New Hampshire

ACLU of New Hampshire The American Civil Liberties Union of New Hampshire (ACLU-NH) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan membership

The ACLU of New Hampshire engages with the community in four principal ways:
- Litigation, representing those whose rights have been violated;
- Legislative advocacy, challenging laws that infringe on individual freedom and supporting laws which protect or expand our civil liberties;
- Education campaigns to ensure residents know their rights; and
- Grassroots organizing, mobilizing people to be advocates for themselves and others.

Our right to privacy does not come with an income requirement, period.

That’s why we’re suing the Concord Housing and Redevelopment Authority for installing surveillance devices, called Minut Monitors, in hundreds of public housing apartments units in New Hampshire.

These devices, which have even been installed above some residents’ beds, can detect everything from the sound of a person’s morning alarm clock to motion data that could reflect intimate acts.

The government should not be able to surveil and monitor you in your own home and we won’t stop fighting for Granite Staters currently living in this dystopian reality.

Devices made by the company Minut can monitor noise levels or smoking, without a camera. The ACLU says they are akin to continuous warrantless searches by the government, and an invasion of privacy.

This dystopian surveillance must end. The government has no right to monitor us in the privacy of our own homes.

The largest police agency in the state is entered into an agreement to cooperate with ICE, but at the same time, are not sharing information that is required under NH’s Right-to-Know Law — so we sued.

Granite Staters deserve transparency about how the state police are devoting their time to fulfill the Trump administration’s deportation machine.

The ACLU of New Hampshire is suing the State Police, accusing the agency of being a “black box” when it comes to informing the public about its involvement in federal immigration enforcement. The lawsuit argues that the New Hampshire Division of State Police is violating the state’s Right-to-K...

Flock cameras are springing up in communities across our country, endangering our privacy.

Tell Congress: Enough is enough. Get these creepy cameras off our streets.

Flock and other automatic license plate readers (ALPRs) are taking over our neighborhoods, tracking our movements, and building detailed databases about us. Tell Congress to rein in this mass surveillance tool: No Flock. No ALPRs. No exceptions.
