Congratulations to our Civil Air Patrol graduating cadets from the High School Class of 2026! On behalf of the NH Wing, we are proud to recognize Cadet Col. Talia Batherwich, who has committed to Norwich University Corps of Cadets, Air Force ROTC. We wish her continued success as she begins this exciting new chapter.

______________
My name is Talia Batherwich, and I am a senior in high school who has been heavily involved in leadership, music, athletics, and community service throughout my school years. I participated in band and drumline as a snare drummer, played soccer, and was involved in organizations including National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Community Service Club, Big Buddies, and Peer Mentoring. Outside of school, I am a Cadet Colonel in the Civil Air Patrol, where I have developed strong leadership, discipline, and teamwork skills through service and leadership opportunities. After graduation, I plan to attend Norwich University, where I will be a member of the Corps of Cadets, a military-style leadership program that combines academics with leadership development, discipline, physical training, and service. I also plan to participate in Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) as I work toward a future career in military service and law with the goal of becoming a JAG officer.

On June 6, 2026, the New Hampshire Wing conducted a highly successful Emergency Services Training Exercise (TRAINEX), bringing together cadets and senior members from the Mt. Washington, Concord, Manchester, and Seacoast Squadrons for a day of hands-on training and qualification advancement.

Throughout the exercise, cadets worked toward earning their Ground Team Member Level 3 and Level 2 qualifications, as well as Urban Direction Finding (UDF) ratings. The event provided participants with valuable real-world experience in search and rescue operations, and emergency services procedures.

NH Wing was also pleased to host C/2d Lt. Riikonen from the Massachusetts Wing. After attending the New Hampshire Wing Winter NCOLS, he expressed interest in learning more about Civil Air Patrol’s Emergency Services mission and joined the TRAINEX to expand his skills. Following a successful day of training, he plans to continue pursuing Emergency Services qualifications alongside NHWG members.

Training activities took participants to Meredith Neck on Lake Winnipesaukee, where teams responded to an active Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) beacon. Cadets and senior members practiced direction-finding techniques in a realistic field environment. The mission culminated in the successful location of the beacon, thanks in part to Ground Team Member C/SrA Davis, who spotted the beacon during a vehicle-mounted search as the team passed the area.

Members of the Manchester Composite Squadron had the honor of serving as Grand Marshal Color Guard for the Manchester Memorial Day Parade. Our cadets proudly marched in the parade, performed color guard duties throughout the event, and presented the colors during the Memorial Day ceremony honoring those who gave their lives in service to our nation.

One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity to meet New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte and represent Civil Air Patrol during such a meaningful event. We are incredibly proud of our cadets for their professionalism, discipline, and outstanding performance.

Memorial Day is a time to remember and honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to take part in a ceremony and parade dedicated to preserving that remembrance within our community.

Last Saturday, May 16, 2026, the New Hampshire Wing proudly celebrated the grand opening of the “Always Vigilant: Civil Air Patrol from WWII Through Today” exhibit at the Wright Museum of World War II

With almost 200 attendees, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was an incredible success.

We would like to extend a special thank you to NER Historian Lt Col Keith Raymond for providing most of the artifacts featured in the exhibit from his personal collection, as well as NH Wing Historian Capt. Lonnie Schorer and NH Wing Cadet Historian Bradley Stephen for their dedication, hard work, and countless hours spent bringing this exhibit to life.

Their work created a meaningful and inspiring display honoring CAP’s legacy from World War II through today.

We also want to thank NH Wing Commander Col. Nic Goupil, Col. Moran, Museum Curator Justin Gamache, Museum Executive Director Peggy Hennelly-Maniates for their support to make this event possible.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this historic day so memorable!
