Happy Juneteenth! πŸ’šπŸ–€β€οΈ

Today, we honor Juneteenth, a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of equality. On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, enslaved African Americans in Texas finally learned of their freedom.

At Contra Costa County Community Services Bureau, we celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of African Americans while reaffirming our commitment to creating inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environments for all children and families.

As we recognize this important day, we encourage our community to reflect on the values of freedom, opportunity, respect, and unity that help our children thrive and build a brighter future.

🌸 In honor of AAPI Heritage Month, we’re proud to spotlight one of our Education Managers: Ms. Rose Ann Ramiro! 🌸

Rose Ann joined CSB in 2016 and brings 23 years of experience in early childhood education (ECE). She began her teaching journey in the Philippines as an elementary school teacher before continuing her ECE path in Canada, where she discovered her passion for working with infants and toddlers. πŸ’›

Since joining CSB as a substitute teacher, Rose Ann has grown into several leadership roles ~ from Infant/Toddler Teacher and Master Teacher to Site Supervisor, and now Education Manager. ✨ She is passionate about supporting educators, children, and families while helping give every child a strong β€œHead Start” in life.

Outside of work, Rose Ann enjoys watching K-Dramas 😊, relaxing at the beach 🌊, and sharing her favorite Filipino dishes like adobo and kare-kare! 🍲

πŸ’¬ Her advice for those entering ECE:

Sixty-one years ago, a bold idea took root: every child β€” no matter their zip code or family income β€” deserves a strong start in life. What began as an 8-week summer program in 1965 has since served more than 38 million children and counting.

Today, Head Start programs across all 50 states, D.C., Puerto Rico, and U.S. territories continue that promise every single day β€” offering early education, health screenings, nutritious meals, and deep family support.
