Healthy & Active Before 5

Healthy & Active Before 5 Healthy & Active Before 5 (HAB45) was founded in 2007. Establishing healthy habits early helps prevent chronic disease in future years.

We are a Contra Costa County collaborative that advances health equity through local policy and environmental changes to support the health and well-being of children ages 0-5 and their families. Good nutrition and regular physical activity are fundamental to promoting healthy growth and development in young children. r Permanente, First 5 Contra Costa, the Contra Costa Child Care Council and Families CAN have joined together with Contra Costa Health Services to form Healthy and Active Before 5--a countywide collaborative effort to address the problems of early childhood obesity. The goal of Healthy and Active Before 5 is to create a healthier Contra Costa by increasing options for healthy eating and active living in our county through focusing on supportive environments and positive parenting.

Ambrose Park has new bathrooms! This was the top request after a community assessment led by the East County Regional Group - ECRG. Congratulations to the community advocates who played such a key role in this improvement.

It took years of park advocacy, but we’re finally here! Please join us Saturday, April 23rd @ 11a for the ribbon cutting celebration for the new bathrooms and concession stand at our Ambrose Park!
