🗑 Old Trash & Recycling Bin Disposal Options ♻

🗑 Old Trash & Recycling Bin Disposal Options ♻

Concord residents in the pilot program for Automated Curbside Trash Collection looking to get rid of their old blue/green City recycling bins or personal containers, have options! ✨

✅ 1. Keep & Repurpose Old Bins ♻
Save and reuse old bins for other purposes, such as storage!

✅ 2. Curbside Old Bin Disposal Collection 🗑
Next week, June 22-26, 2026, pilot program residents may dispose of unwanted bins and containers by placing them curbside by 7 a.m. on their trash collection day. Unwanted bins must be clearly labeled with an 8.5" x 11" paper that says, "TAKE" on it. Bins will be collected in a separate trash truck on the same day as collection.

✅ 3. Free Drop Off Locations
Bring any unwanted bins to the Concord Transfer Station (77 Old Turnpike Road) or Concord General Services (311 North State Street) for free disposal during the month of July 2026.

Let's work together to make this a smooth transition!

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night at Feathered Friend Brewing for tree-themed trivia with the Tree Subcommittee as we also recognized Bob Po***ck as the 2026 Tree Champion. 🎉🌳👏

Affectionately known as “Tree Bob," he was selected as this year’s winner due to his lifetime of accomplishments and contributions Concord’s landscape and treescape. Bob worked as the Senior Planner for Concord for more than 30 years ending his tenure in 2006.

He has been a licensed landscape architect since 1974 and established the Granite State Landscape Architects (GSLA) as well as what is now the Environmental Design Certificate program at NHTI in 1980 (now an Associate’s Degree offering). He founded and led Po***ck Land Planning LLC from 2006-2012. Now semi-retired, he is still active with GSLA as their Advocacy Chairman.

Bob’s passion for trees in Concord is deeply rooted and he developed the downtown Tree Tour that continues to the present day sharing knowledge about some of Concord’s most notable trees. He is also working on a book documenting facts and stories about Concord tree history.

Congratulations, Bob, on this well-deserved recognition and most of all thank you for your contributions to Concord's treescape. 🌲🙌

Thank you to Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce for their partnership on this award; Feathered Friend for hosting; everyone who supported the Sustainable Tree Program; and our Tree Subcommittee member Peter Breu of Peter Breu Custom Furniture for the wonderful raffle prizes.

The City of Concord will be debuting Modular Vehicle Barriers during Intown Concord’s Market Days Festival on June 25-27, aimed at making this event and future events safer for the community. The barriers will be stationed at the festival’s major intersections. 🚧⛔️

The MVB3X Modular Vehicle Barrier System is a portable vehicular barrier system designed and tested to minimize vehicle intrusions. This system is used all over the world for temporary street closures to help protect pedestrians in public areas during events and large gatherings. Upon impact, the vehicle’s momentum is forced downward, which neutralizes the forward movement, stopping the vehicle quickly. The barrier system is designed to be easily moved should emergency services need to access an area. 🚑

The City has been working on acquiring the barriers for eight years with the support of organizations like Intown Concord, which puts on numerous major events in downtown Concord throughout the year. Many of their events require street closures.

“Public Safety is our number one priority when planning public events in Concord,” said Jessica Martin, Executive Director of Intown Concord. “We are grateful to the Concord Fire Department for their commitment to keeping our community safe and seeing this lengthy process through completion.”

The traffic barriers were purchased for approximately $250,000 through a U.S. Homeland Security grant.

Thank you to the Concord, NH Fire Department for their efforts in acquiring these barriers! 👏 Included is photo with an example of how they are set up.
