2 Unit had the distinct pleasure of joining Chief Bennett at Scioto Elementary to celebrate the last day of school by serving ice cream sundaes to the students! 🍦

It was a great way to kick off summer break and connect with the kids, staff, and families in our community. We hope everyone has a safe, fun, and relaxing summer! ☀️😎

On this Memorial Day, Scioto Township Fire Department honors the memory of the courageous service members who laid down their lives for our nation and made the ultimate sacrifice. Today we stand in remembrance of these members so that we may live in freedom.

Our thoughts are with the families and friends who have lost loved ones. May we never forget their valor, their courage, and their sacrifice.

From all of our members, we wish everyone a safe and Happy Memorial Day.

The annual Viking 5K is just 1 week from today! If you live near Scioto Elementary and Teays Valley West Middle School, please note that there will be road closures due to the Scioto/West Viking 5K next Tuesday, May 26. Beginning at 9:40 am on Tuesday, roads around the 5K course will be shut down until the last participant passes in order to keep all participants safe. See the road closure map below...

This past weekend two of our members attended Crash Course Weekend hosted by Howell Rescue Systems in Dayton. This two day long course draws attendees from all over the nation as well as multiple different countries.

Over the course of two days, our members rotated through 10 different scenarios that could be encountered in Scioto Township or surrounding areas. Some of these scenarios included limited visibility stabilization and extrication, multiple vehicle entrapments, elevated vehicle extrication and much more.

These members were also able to practice extrication techniques on some new, cutting edge vehicles. With higher strength metal and lithium ion battery systems, extrication has to adapt to meet these demands and techniques change.

Trainings like these are invaluable to our members as much of what they learn can be brought back and shared with other members. Great work to our members who spent the weekend at this training!

🚒👨🏻‍🚒 INTERNATIONAL FIREFIGHTERS DAY 👩🏼‍🚒🚒

No matter the time of day, our men and women show up.

Today, we honor our men and women who selflessly dedicate themselves to the safety of the community every day. Through weather, holidays, night or day - they are there. On this International Firefighters Day, we not only thank our men and women for all they do in OUR community, we thank any community members who selflessly dedicate themselves to other communities.

24/7/365 our men and women are there. We are proud to serve our community with dedication, strength, and compassion every day.

Today, our 3 unit crew - along with some members from others shifts and our mutual aid partners, Harrison Township Fire Department - Ashville, Ohio, participated in various live training fires at the Ohio Fire Academy. They focused on forcible entry techniques for doors, chain link gates, and garages. They also focused on initial line placement and movement through a structure with live fire conditions as well as search and rescue with victim removal. While trainings like this are not common practice, they are invaluable to our members, both new and old, to sharpen skills, refine technique, and experience live fire in a controlled setting.

Our other shifts, as well as other shifts from Harrison, will be continuing training at OFA through the remainder of this week.

One Unit had a busy day on Wednesday. Great training with Bad Day Training, followed by a working structure fire alongside our mutual aid partners: Harrison Township Fire Department - Ashville, Ohio, Circleville Firefighters Local 1232, Pleasant Township Fire Department , Pickaway Township Fire Dept., Tri County Fire, Williamsport Fire, and Box65.

Strong teamwork and professionalism all around. 🚒💪

Chief Cline and Assistant Chief Bennett attended a class on fire protection systems presented by Koorsen Fire and Security at The Ohio State University today. The class went over suppression systems and other fire protection topics that are instrumental to our growing Township. Go Bucks!

Happy Easter from all of us here at Scioto Township Fire Department!

Today, our crews had the opportunity to transport the Easter Bunny and his friends to the Easter Egg hunt in town. Crews had a blast watching all the children have fun and collect eggs. They were even able to get a picture with him and his friends!
