Homecoming Vehicle Extrication Demo

06/13/2026

We received some unfortunate news this morning. Due to a malfunction with the aircraft, AirEvac will be unable to attend our touch a truck event this afternoon. We understand this is unfortunate news but safety of first responders is paramount to us.

We look forward to hosting them at future events!

Congratulations on the official graduation today from the Ohio Fire Executive Program Assistant Chief Bennett.

πŸš’ TOUCH A TRUCK AND EXTRICATION DEMONSTRATION πŸš’

Do you want to meet local first responders?
Have you ever wondered what’s inside an emergency vehicle?
Have you wondered how medical helicopters treat patients?
Have you wanted to see what firefighters do when someone needs extricated from a vehicle?
Do you just REALLY like emergency vehicles?

Tomorrow is your day! We’re proud to be hosting our second annual Touch-A-Truck and Extrication Demonstration in partnership with Commercial Point Community Men’s Club Homecoming Festival. After appearing in the parade, we will have various apparatus from Scioto Fire and other local emergency agencies at the homecoming festival so that you can take a closer in depth look at them! We will also have an AirEvac Lifeteam medical helicopter landing and on site for the event.

At the conclusion of the touch-a-truck event, a couple of our members will be utilizing our battery powered extrication tools to perform a LIVE demonstration of extricating a patient from a vehicle!

PARADE at 11
TOUCH-A-TRUCK at 12
EXTRICATION DEMONSTRATION at 2

We hope you’ll join us tomorrow for a wonderful day of inside looks at local first responders and emergency agencies!

This week, Assistant Chief Spencer Bennett will complete all of the requirements of the Ohio Fire Executive program. This program is almost three years long and covers all aspects of fire leadership, from budgeting to change initiatives. He has completed his research paper and will bring those ideas and talents back to our community. This is a Masters level program. Assistant Chief Bennett will bring those skills back to our Township and continue to provide top level service to our residents. Congratulations Spencer. Job well done.

2 Unit had the distinct pleasure of joining Chief Bennett at Scioto Elementary to celebrate the last day of school by serving ice cream sundaes to the students! 🍦

It was a great way to kick off summer break and connect with the kids, staff, and families in our community. We hope everyone has a safe, fun, and relaxing summer! β˜€οΈπŸ˜Ž

This past weekend two of our members attended Crash Course Weekend hosted by Howell Rescue Systems in Dayton. This two day long course draws attendees from all over the nation as well as multiple different countries.

Over the course of two days, our members rotated through 10 different scenarios that could be encountered in Scioto Township or surrounding areas. Some of these scenarios included limited visibility stabilization and extrication, multiple vehicle entrapments, elevated vehicle extrication and much more.

These members were also able to practice extrication techniques on some new, cutting edge vehicles. With higher strength metal and lithium ion battery systems, extrication has to adapt to meet these demands and techniques change.

Trainings like these are invaluable to our members as much of what they learn can be brought back and shared with other members. Great work to our members who spent the weekend at this training!
