During the 2026 legislative session, Governor Brian Kemp signed into law an expansion of HB340 through HB1009, which eliminates cell phone use for students in grades K–12 beginning with the 2027–2028 school year.

Commerce City Schools is committed not only to meeting the requirements of this new legislation, but also to fast-forwarding the timeline beginning in FY26.

After a thorough review with the district administrative team and input from multiple stakeholders, Commerce City Schools will operate as a distraction-free learning environment for all students in grades PreK–12 during the upcoming school year.

Good luck to CHS Bass Fishing Team members Jaxson Welch and Carson Phillips as they compete in the Georgia BASS Nation State Classic on Lake Seminole this Friday and Saturday! Such a huge accomplishment for these two anglers! Results will be shared as soon as they are available!

Christen Shiflet, our CHS Healthcare teacher, had the opportunity to present at the GACTE Summer Conference this week in Columbus. Mrs. Shiflet did a great job presenting on tool and tricks to get students engaged in the Introduction to Healthcare course.
