Deputy Brandon Sikes of the Columbia County (GA) Sheriff's Office was murdered this weekend while serving a domestic violence protective order on a subject who opened fire during an interstate traffic stop.

Another deputy, Gavin White, was shot in the face but is alive and fighting for life in the hospital, thanks to a fellow deputy who risked his life and dragged him away from the gunfire.

The shooter doesn't deserve to be named, but he is deceased. He fired at the deputies with a 9mm AR pistol that had been converted to fully automatic. In his RV, detectives later found pipe bombs.

Deputy Sikes had been a deputy since 2018 and served on the crime suppression team. He is survived by his wife, who also works for Columbia County SO. On behalf of the Volusia Sheriff's Office, sending our support and deepest condolences to this grieving family, and prayers for Deputy White as he fights for his life.

Sadly, over the course of the weekend Brown County Sheriff Deputies responded to and are currently investigating the unexpected deaths of a 15-year-old female and a 16-year-old male. The tragic events occurred in separate locations within the county. No evidence was discovered to indicate the deaths are connected. At this point, I will not comment on the nature of either death. Our hearts and prayers go out to all family members, friends, and first responders having to cope with these tragic events.

The Comanche Police Department is searching for this individual, Efrain Rios, approximately 5ft 9 inches tall, approximately 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He is currently wanted by the Comanche Police Department for assault causing bodily Injury to a family member, and is also wanted out of Adult Probation for a motion to revoke probation on a charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon. ‼️⚠️The Comanche County Sheriff’s Office is receiving numerous calls from citizens about a jury scam going around the County. The caller is using an App to mimic the Sheriff’s Office number and telling people they have missed jury duty and there is a warrant for their arrest. The caller is then having people either buy gift cards or Bitcoin and send it to another number. The real Comanche County Sheriff’s Office will never call and tell you that you have a warrant and ask you for money. If you are unsure of who you are talking to hang up and call your local law enforcement agency and speak to them directly before sending any money. ⚠️‼️

Eastland County Deputy Killed in the Line of Duty....

At approximately 9:00 PM on Friday, July 21, 2023, Deputies with the Eastland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic fight in progress at a residence on Hwy 183 between Cisco and Rising Star. Deputy David Bosecker arrived on scene first and immediately began receiving gunfire from the suspect. Deputy Bosecker was struck and fatally wounded. Other units arriving were able to apprehend the suspect and no one else was injured. The suspect was taken to Stephens County Jail where he was charged with Capitol Murder. This is an active investigation being led by the Texas Rangers.

Deputy Bosecker had been in law enforcement for over 21 years and was a master peace officer. He began his law enforcement career in Wise County as a deputy then transitioning to Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. He would later become a Game Warden for Texas Parks and Wildlife. And Police Officer for Comanche PD. He finally ended up at Eastland County as a deputy in 2021 and he also worked part time for Cisco PD as a marine enforcement officer.
