Columbus Water Works crews are working to repair a water main leak in the area of Victory Drive and Fort Benning Road.

To safely complete the repair, the far-left eastbound lane of Victory Drive, closest to the median, will be temporarily closed between Fort Benning Road and Shelby Street. See the attached map for more details.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution, watch for crews and safety barriers, and allow extra time when traveling through the area.

Thank you for your patience while we make these necessary repairs.

What would your day look like without water? Columbus Water Works is inviting local middle school students to get creative in this year’s Imagine a Day Without Water Student Contest!

Students in grades 6–8 throughout the Chattahoochee Valley can participate by submitting either an original essay or poster inspired by the theme:

“Can You Imagine A Day Without Water?”

It’s a chance for students to share what water means to them, their families and their community through writing or art.

In observance of Labor Day, Columbus Water Works offices will be closed on Monday, September 7.

Labor Day is a time to recognize the hard work and dedication of the people who keep our community running. We are grateful for our employees and for the many workers across our region who serve with commitment and pride.

For water-related emergencies, please call 706-649-3400. Emergency crews will be available.

Update: This work has been completed, and the RiverWalk is officially back open.

Columbus Water Works will close a portion of the RiverWalk behind the Columbus Civic Center from Monday, August 31 through Thursday, September 3 while crews complete necessary maintenance on one of our diversion structures.

See the map below for the affected section and designated detour.

RiverWalk users should follow posted signs and use caution while traveling through the area.

Thank you for your patience as we complete this necessary work.

“Flushable” doesn’t always mean flushable!

Many wipes and other household products labeled flushable don’t actually break down the way toilet paper does. Once flushed, they can contribute to clogged pipes, sewer backups, and problems within the wastewater system.

Help keep things flowing by remembering a simple rule: When in doubt, throw it out!

Your toilet is not a trash can! 🚽

Fats, food, paper towels, cleaning wipes, and other items can clog pipes, damage pumps, and even contribute to sewer backups. And yes, that includes wipes labeled “flushable.”

A good rule to remember: If it’s not human waste or toilet paper, put it in the trash.

The content of this post is offensive and does not reflect the values of our organization or the CWW workers who serve our community. The individual who made this post is not currently employed by CWW and has not been for some time. He does not represent or speak on behalf of CWW. One of our core values is RESPECT for All: “We ensure inclusion, fairness, and a strong awareness of the differences that make our community unique.”

We take that commitment seriously. Racism is incompatible with that value and has no place at the Columbus Water Works or in the community we are proud to serve.
