Mosquito spraying is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7 in the North spray zone of Prairie Township due to mosquitoes in the area testing positive for West Nile virus. This includes the Lincoln Village area. Spraying will begin at 8:30pm (weather permitting).

Please do not approach, impede, harass, or interrupt the sprayers at any time. For any questions or complaints, please reach out to Franklin County Public Health via the BITE line (614-525-BITE (2483)) or via email ([email protected]) with any questions.

For additional information, please visit https://mosquito.myfcph.org/spray-schedule-maps/.

Franklin County Public Health reminds residents that the best way to prevent mosquito-borne diseases is by preventing mosquito bites. Remove sources of standing water in your yard, limit time outside when mosquitoes are most active at dawn and dusk, wear long sleeves and pants in light colors, and use an EPA-approved insect repellent.

๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš’ OCTOBER IS NATIONAL FIRE PREVENTION MONTH ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

Fire prevention isnโ€™t just something we talk about for one week itโ€™s something we practice every single day.

Husser Volunteer Fire Department is encouraging everyone in our community to take a few minutes to look around their home and ask: Are we prepared?

๐Ÿ  Test your smoke alarms and replace batteries when needed.
๐Ÿณ Never leave cooking unattended.
๐Ÿ”Œ Check cords, outlets, and appliances for electrical hazards.
โ™จ๏ธ Keep anything that can burn away from heaters and other heat sources.
๐Ÿ”‹ Practice safe lithium-ion battery charging, storage, and disposal.
๐Ÿšช Create and practice a home fire escape plan with everyone in your household.
๐Ÿ”ฅ Use caution with outdoor burning and always follow local restrictions.
๐Ÿ“ Make sure your address is clearly visible so emergency responders can find you quickly.

Most importantly, teach your family what to do when thereโ€™s a fire: GET OUT, STAY OUT, AND CALL 911.

Fire prevention starts long before the tones drop. Small actions today can prevent devastating emergencies tomorrow.

Call us to inquire about smoke detectors and 911 address signs. Help us help you to be alerted and found during your emergency!! ๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿš’

โค๏ธ Protect your home. Protect your family. Protect your community.

๐Ÿ”ฅ PREVENT TODAY. PROTECT TOMORROW. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Just a reminder that there is a Burn Ban in effect between October 1st and November 30th.

Ohio regulates what materials residents can burn and how. According to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, open burning refers to any set outdoor fire that does not vent into a chimney. Examples include brush piles, fire pits, fire rings, and burn barrels.

According to the State Fire Marshal, Ohio has seasonal, statewide ban on burning yard waste, trash, and debris. This ban is in effect between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. during March, April, May, October and November of each year. The ban only applies to areas of the state outside of cities, towns, and villages. This includes Prairie Township.

If you are burning after 6pm, please ensure you have a clear area around your fire area, keep your fire less than 5 square feet in size, and have a water source nearby in case of an emergency. Be safe!
