Be a Teacher. Shape the Future. 🧸🍎

Early Childhood Education at The W focuses on children from birth through age 8, with PreK–K licensure built into the program.

Now is the time to step into early childhood. There is strong growth across Mississippi with the expansion of public Pre-K classrooms, increasing the demand for qualified educators. These early years are critical for brain development, school readiness, and long-term success.

This work supports children, families, and the strength of our communities.

If you believe in play, growth, and building the foundation for everything that comes next, this is your path.

We’re excited to have two School of Education future teachers, Brooklyn and Kiersten, working with us during MGS this summer!

During the school year, both serve on The W’s Residence Life staff, helping build community and support students on campus. At MGS, they’re getting another side of the student development experience by working with some of Mississippi’s brightest high school students.

From leadership and communication to problem-solving and social-emotional learning, experiences like Residence Life and MGS provide lessons that can’t be learned from a textbook.

Thank you, Brooklyn and Kiersten, for investing your summer in our scholars. We can’t wait to see where your future in education takes you!

The excitement is real at Mississippi Governor's School! Follow us over at or Mississippi Governor's School social media to keep up with all the excitement!

While classes officially began today, MGS has been in motion for much longer. Our faculty, staff, RAs, and SEAs have spent the past week preparing classrooms, organizing events, learning schedules, solving problems, and getting everything ready for 60 of Mississippi's brightest scholars. Today, the hallways were full, classrooms came alive, and the real work of MGS began. Scholars dove into their courses, started building relationships, and began what promises to be an unforgettable two-week journey.

The W's School of Education and the Center for Education Support are proud to host these incredible students and the dedicated team that makes this experience possible. We're running on purpose, teamwork, caffeine, and just enough chocolate to make it through. Here's to Day 2 and the many memories still to come.
