After a few finishing touches the Speaker and Senate President will walk the bill to the Governor for his signature. We hope he’ll sign it tonight so by the weekend the savings for Ohio families, farmers and businesses will begin!

Gas/Diesel Tax Relief Step 1:

emergency clause to get the gas/diesel TAX RELIEF to go into immediate* effect. Half of Dems vote NO. Apparently not urgent for them. 38.5 cents/gallon gas and 47 cents/gallon for diesel.

*immediate = within 48 hours of Governor’ signature. Stations need time to implement.

Today, Representative Newman and I introduced the Save Ohio Sports Act. It includes consumer protections and sports integrity provisions aimed at curbing online gambling.

Gambling is the number one addiction that leads to su***de - and online gambling companies are in an aggressive pay-to-play game with the Ohio Legislature hoping to expand their profits on the backs of Ohioans with the “carrot” of providing extra tax money for government. This legislation makes it clear: our kids, their physical and mental wellbeing, are not for sale.

Passed HCR 35 yesterday! HCR 35 urges Congress to reform federal permitting and environmental review processes to speed up the development of energy infrastructure nationwide. These changes are needed to support a more reliable and affordable energy system as electricity demand continues to grow. Government produces too much bureaucratic red tape. It's time to do what's best for our citizens and speed up energy production!

Rep. David Thomas and I spoke to owners of vending machines and micromarkets about our bill, HB 762, that will eliminate I consistently applied sales tax that is sometimes levied on their businesses when tables and chairs are within a few feet of their machines or markets. It’s a simple tax fairness issue. Proponent testimony is tomorrow, 6/3 in Ways and Means Committee
