A national petition for the acquittal of Zé Maria, national president of the PSTU (Unified Socialist Workers' Party) of Brazil, is now online.

The initiative comes in response to the absurd sentence of two years in prison imposed on the leader by the Federal Court of São Paulo, due to a speech delivered in 2023 in defense of the Palestinian people and denouncing the genocide carried out by the State of Israel.

This is a ruling with no legal basis, the result of a strong Zionist lobby that seeks to turn internationalist solidarity and the denunciation of crimes against a people into a motive for political persecution. A tactic that aims to confuse "antisemitism" (hatred of the Jewish people) with "antizionism" (denunciation of the racist and genocidal Israeli regime).

The manifesto warns that this attack is not only against a political leader, but against all those who stand up in defense of Palestine and against injustices.

This course will cover a variety of central topics for socialist organizing in the United States with the aim of helping attendees develop an understanding of Marxism as a theoretical framework and guide to action for those fighting to change society worldwide.

The meetings will start with short summaries of the readings followed by open discussions where everyone can raise questions, responses or criticisms.

Celebrate International Workers’ Day today! IWD is rooted in the history of the revolutionary socialist movement of the U.S. and became a day for the workers of the whole world not long thereafter. This year, the working class in the U.S. is really putting it back on the map after many years of smaller mobilization.

Comrades in our branch will be at multiple May Day events in Columbus, as well as at events in Athens, Pittsburgh, and Durham (NC). Keep a look out for us and get involved in the socialist movement!
